Midseason Report: Field Of 64 Projections • D1Baseball
D1 posted their extremely early regional projections. Vols draw UNC as the 2 seed, which is not a bad draw. Got swept by Miami, dropped a midweek game at Liberty, lost a series against Vtech, and just got blown out by USCjr midweek. They have a few guys hitting over .300 and a few with 7-8 HRs, not an intimidating lineup. Pitching looks pretty good, not elite.

And there's so much love for Notre Dame . . . 1 seed in South Bend . . . Please . . .

Not sure I understand those projections. Georgia Southern is the last team in yet hosts a regional. Also, East Carolina is listed as a first out but then listed in the bracket.

I’m more surprised we would be grouped with 3 other projected conference winners.

@volgee the hosting process in baseball is a bit different than you may expect. Facilities and accommodations are a factor…

That’s true, and I definitely don’t understand the baseball bracket as much as basketball. But I thought the last 4 teams in would be at large teams that get 2/3 seeds in a regional.

Isn't Mercer our #2 seed?

You think that's weird...East Carolina is one of the first four out, yet they're the 3 seed in Tennessee's region. ;)

Man, that’s a tough field! That Coral Gables regional is up for grabs.
I like Auburn.
How would you like to be a host team and see Texas, LSU or Vandy in your regional!🤦‍♂️
Help me out guys, I must’ve overlooked the Mississippi schools...
😂

4 seeds are reserved for small conference champs, at large teams are normally 2-3. Basketball is same. No power 5 school would normally be 14-16
