This basically sums it up, tons of offense/power and lots of unknowns on the mound.
Outlook: The last time Tennessee was breaking in this many new pitchers in the weekend rotation, it ended up turning the reins over to two freshmen and a transfer, and those guys turned out to be Burns, Beam and Dollander. While that’s too high a standard to hold this rotation to, it goes to show that turnover doesn’t necessarily have to mean a step back for this pitching staff. It may take some time for things to get sorted out on the mound, but the offense should be good enough to carry things until that happens. On paper the Vols are one of the most talented teams in the country, but with the SEC as crowded as ever at the top, they’re going to need to have some significant player development success stories along the way to keep pace with the other powers in the conference this season.
