saw the movie this weekend....got to say, after reading the book, a little disappointed. The movie was good, and for the most part, i think they did a good job of keeping with the book and the scenery etc....the parts in teh Louvre and bank, and Sophie's character, were all pretty much as i imagined them to be, so that was cool. Teabing in the movie was really good. And i liked the historical references they showed. And Silas's character was really cool too...they did a good job of making him what he was in the book.

things i didn't like:
they completely changed the reason why Sophie and her grandfather parted ways...that was a big part of the story, and i couldn't understand why they did that.
They only had one kryptex, and the sequence of how it was opened etc...was changed.
they turned the bishop in to a bad guy, and he never told the folks in Rome what he was up to.
they basically removed the entire back story of Sophie and her grandfather....all the puzzles, anagrams, her finding the key as a girl and the death of her parents etc...
and that Sophie was the one that deciphered the anagrams, not Robert.
They revealed who the Teacher was too early in the movie...that sucked as far as i was concerned.
And they didn't go back to Teabing's manor with the discovery of all the "teacher's" stuff....
and the ending, was not completely different, but they really explained what was going on in the movie, whereas in the book, they left it a bit more to the imagination.

All in all, i liked it, it was cool to "see" it, though i would have rather had a bit longer movie and kept some of those things intact from the book.

book still better though.

Plus, in the book, Sophie was NOT a descendant of Jesus Christ, but the movie ended with her believing that she was.

Silas wasn't supposed to be shot by a gun, either. That confused me...

Are you sure, Crystal? I thought he was????

well the book never came out and said like the movie did, but it definitely led you down that path to think she was....it was still left up to the imagination though in the book....i didn't mind that in the movie...it worked for me.

i was just really disappointed that they didn't get in to more of the back story of Sophie and her grandfather. oh well....movies rarely live up to the book...Hannibal is another one that comes to mind that disappointed as a movie.

I would compare this to seeing Lord of the Rings.

My expectation level was so high that I did not enjoy the LOTR movies as much as I should have because I kept comparing it to the books.

Well, I must have read a different book, because I distinctly remember Robert Langdon seeing Sophie making the connection to the "Princess Sophie" reference and Langdon shutting her down real quick.

'Course, I could have fell asleep reading and dreamed it. :biggrin2:
