Interesting read, IMO...

But as so many teams have tried to catch up to the Crimson Tide, Swinney, an Alabama alum who at 48 is a generation removed from the 66-year-old Saban, has gone his own way. He has displayed actual joy at winning. He has focused on recruiting locally. And he has embraced Clemson’s quirky side — its out-of-the-way location, its goofy fans (they love to put little tiger tails on their trucks) — making his program a stark contrast to Alabama and its countless imitators.

“If Alabama’s the business decision and the N.F.L. pipeline, Clemson is the family,” said Barton Simmons, director of recruiting for 247Sports, a digital bible for college football’s wonk set. “Dabo Swinney presents his program in a very different light than you see at the more traditional powerhouses.”

What I like about Dabo is he refuses to over sign and recruit over kids while everybody else is signing 25 or 30 a year he’s signing 15-20

And he still manages to compete with the best in the country

It's a cutthroat business and Dabo rolls up his sleeves and gets as down and dirty as the best of them. From telling recruits, Urban's on the way out, to try to spin his way around why he voted Bama #5, he's as greasy and disingenuous as they come. That's the price you pay when you bring the best to clemson. Best to save that virtuous family stuff for Disney World.

Dabo is dirty because he voted bama #5. That is a good one. Only a gump would come up with that.

He voted Alabama 5 because he obviously “loves the tide so much he didn’t want to beat them again”. Yup

Was he right?

I mean a team that didn’t win their conference or even division, they probably shouldn’t have a chance to win the national title. But I mean Alabama is a better team than Ohio State.

No, it was his backtracking speech he gave to explain he was out of his mind when he did it.

As much as this dude has come into your house and picked your 5 stars clean, it's got to be tough picking these lesser of two evils.
