If Dalton Knecht maintains his current scoring average of 20.8 ppg over the next 3 games plus any combination of 4 in the post-season, he'll reach 728 points. This would surpass Dale Ellis for 2nd place on the all-time season scoring chart, right below Allan Houston at 806. Since the team will likely accomplish far more than any of Houston's teams, this would arguably be the greatest single season by a single player in UT history. It's only been one season, but I would say, depending on what this team accomplishes, this would cement DK's legacy as one of the greatest VFLs of all time. Thoughts?

I agree, the guy is unbelievable. Never have I seen one guy take over the floor and game.

Knecht belongs in the King/Lofton/Houston category.

I will stop watching basketball after this season. Today is my 57th birthday. I have never nor, will I ever see an individual player OWN the game like Knecht does.

Dalton is a history major, because he’s rewriting the books.

The thing is outside of his 5 game stretch where he was injured/recovering, he’s actually averaging 23.7ppg over those other 23 games, in conference play only (15 games) he’s averaging 25.3ppg, so even higher. I say that to say that him averaging about 24ppg here on out would seem pretty plausible and not at all a stretch, if he does that he would need 9 more games to make a run at the single season record.

I d rank him anywhere from tied for 3rd best ever to 5th.. He is behind King and Ellis. I do not think he is any better than Allan Houston. And Tobias Harris is probably the better player as well.

He's had a great regular season so far, but for me, his legacy will come down to how he and this team performs in the NCAAT.
That’s why the removed Thompson Boling from the arena. Having it cleared for “Knecht Dome” if he takes us to the promised land. Good to be prepared.

If we make it to the Final 4 he moves ahead of BK who never won a NCAA game Even if they don't he is no worse than 1A behind BK.

Win a Natty and he is in Peyton and Dolly status.

It’s probably been said before so ssiap, but I was astonished even to be unable to find a write up of the young man’s performance against Auburn anywhere on the ESPN men’s BB page. I mean 39 points and that on fire streak of 9/10 shooting.

You obviously never watched BK play. There has been nobody better in the SEC and I absolutely include Pistol Pete.

I don't think many people realize he scored 68 points in the next 7 games after the injury. Some of that was bc of blowouts but no reason not to think he would be averaging 24-25 if not for the rolled ankle. And that 25.3 in conference play would be higher if not for the 8 points he scored in 19 minutes in the Ole Miss blow out.
