A couple of weeks ago some of us were discussing the possibility of Dan Henning of the Panthers for OC at UT. Some said he would be good to open things up because RC had made the Vols offense totally predictable. Here's how Henning did yesterday against the Jets. For 16 first down plays , he ran Steve Davis over guard, tackle or wide 13 times for a total gain of 29 yards. Thats an average of 2.2 yards per carry on first down 13 out of 16 times. It got maddening after while. If it had been anybody but the Jets, Carolina would have gotten their A$$es kicked but good.
5 turnovers in a stretch of about 7 plays is all that saved them. That and one helluva defense. Don't be fooled by the 30-3 score. The Panther offense stunk up the joint.
Let's hope for somebody as the new OC who can put an offensive plan out there that will scare the crap out of the opposition. If we lose a few. let's have some excitement as a consolation.
