Daniel Norris(Science Hill High School,Johnson City) was selected #74 overall today by the Toronto Blue Jays. I've watched this guy pitch 3 different times. Twice this past season & once last year.

He was projected as a top 15-20 pick. The only reason he dropped this far was signability. I personally think he'll stick with his commitment to Clemson. He may have turned pro if he went in the 1st round. He still could because of the money but I think education is a focus as well.

There's no doubt he'd be a 1st-rounder if he decides to stay with Clemson & get drafted later. That's if he can avoid the injury bug. He's looking at decent money though if he decides to go pro now. He's one of the top overall pitchers in the draft. He's rated the top lefty by many scouts. We'll see how things go! Thanks!

great kid, who doesn't really need the money. i think he will go on to clemson and get his education now. i hope in some ways, he does sign with the jays as he might be assigned to bluefield of the appy rookie league and i would get a chance to see him play here in bristol. good luck, daniel whatever you choose !!!!

I don't think he would have played at UT anyway unless he put on weight and played DT. With Bray and Worley and Bo Hardegree we're set at QB for the neat future.

I would do ask for a crazy signing bonus/contract too if I wanted to attend college. If someone forks up the money, great, but he obviously was just fine sticking to his commitment.

If he does accept whatever offer is handed out, he needs to put a clause in the contract that makes his club pay for college if/when he goes back. Too many kids get hurt and have nothing to fall back on.
