Not a big Houston Nutt fan, but I do wish his brother Danny well and hope for a complete recovery.

They hired Tim Horton, who was going to be the offensive coordinator at Air Force. He's a former Arkansas reciever.

His Dad's a former assitant coach for the Hogs, and a high level member of the Razorback foundation.

I was hoping they would come after Roper.

I livein Fayetteville, and man, it is a freakin soap opera around here. Half the people want Houston out and half want him back. The AD is leaving and for everything Frank Broyles did for the program here, people want him gone and don't even want him involved with the new AD hire. It's ridiculous, they don't realize how good of a job both Houston and Frank have done with such a small athletic budget. The facilities out here are top notch and it's a shame everything went down like it did this past offseason. The word out here is Larry Coker is waiting in the wings when the people finally run Houston out.

I think they'll bring Gus back, if Houston leaves. He's only in Tulsa so it will be an easy move..

just kidding, agree on the soap opera...

How can Arkansas have such a small athletic budget with 2 football stadiums and a state of the art Barnhill arena with both sports sold out all the time?

I think their budget, is ranked like 9th in the SEC
But they have great facilities due to donations, made by the Walton's their heirs, Tyson and JB Hunt, and folks that have gotten rich from those companies.

For such a small area, they have 3 of the largest companies in the World/US located in the area with Wal-mart, Tyson Foods and JB Hunt

I don't know how it happens, but fact is Arkansas has probably the second lowest athletic budget in the SEC behind Vanderbilt. Their football stadium is very nice although it doesn't hold all that many people, Bud Walton Arena is one of the nicest in the conference and the baseball stadium looks like a minor-league park. With all of that, the athletic budget is smaller than most of the other SEC schools.

The Walton's own basically everything around here... Wal-Mart runs Northwest Arknasas. Tyson and J.B. Hunt pump a lot of money into the facilities and program, thus, not a really big need for a outlandish athletic budget.

My bad on the Barnhill Arena reference. Old age screws up the memory thing from time to time. But like y'all are saying, with all the high octane corporations in the state, how can their budget be so pathetic? Maybe it was time for Broyles to go if he can't get those big boys to pump in the bucks to the budget. What is an AD if not a glorified fund raiser?
