I doubted. I own it. I remember we went from James Franklin rumored to be the guy to Josh Heupel? He had just regressed at UCF over his three years there. I was wrong. Sorry coach.

The lazy dude who hired the most recent FB coach he had employeed? Meh.

I didn't think we would be where we were at now but I was alright with Heupel hire and started to like him more as I heard him speak, etc. Then he put together that 7-6 team and I was interested.

Then there is this 2022 season so far. No one is doubting the hire now.

There's a nice article in The Athletic today posing the question is Danny White the best AD at hiring head coaches. It's a paywall story and I'm not sure about cut and pasting it because of that. That special thing we have is not just Heup and the team it starts at the very top. Everyone worried about Heupel getting poached, I'd hate to see it, but losing Danny White would probably be a worse setback. Which hardly anyone ever mentions.
