So, What do you think? Do the Vols have new, imaginative plays for 2006 or is it the usual pass on 1st, run on 2nd and 3rd, and punt on 4th?

I'm thinking more like:

(1) Run on 1st.
(2) If we get more than five yards on the 1st down run we'll pass on 2nd, if not we run again on 2nd.
(3)(a) If we pass on 2nd and it's either incomplete or more than two yards from a 1st down we'll pass again on 3rd. If we pass on second and it's short of a first down, but within two yards of a 1st down we'll run on 3rd.
(3)(B) If we run on second and get within three yards of a 1st down we'll run on 3rd. If we run on 2nd down and need more than three yards for a 1st down we will pass.

I hope and think Cut will call plays according to what ever is offered by the D.

Let me ask this. If they drop back into heavy coverage do you still throw? Or if they stack the line do you still run? Like I said, I want us to take advantage of what ever the opposition gives us. If we can run effectivly every play then I say do it. Now by effectvly I mean moving the chains in chunks.

Take what they give you, eh? It can get the job done but the champions usually force the issue and break the opposition.

I hear what you're saying volbeef. I'm jokin' around some. Mainly I just want to see us hang onto the football and , hopefully, use the run to open up the passing game.

Could be VolunteerHillbilly,
I just think the Vols have to establish a passing game so they can open up the running game. I hope they have some receivers that can hold on to the ball. They need to throw and catch, simple as that. They can run when the field is spread out. I used to love to see the passing game established and then bust one right up the middle for a touchdown! Yee Haa I definitely think we need an innovative passing game.

i think a better question would be will the offense be EFFECTIVE or DYSFUNCTIONAL?

at this point, i'll settle for effective, even if it's boring.

Not me jakez4ut,
I want to be excited! Sometimes it is hard to remember this is a game and these are very young men trying to meet the expectations of the Vol Nation. But, I believe these are talented young men and they can succeed with an innovative passing game. Yes, I want to see the Vols win, but I also want to see the Vols and fans have a good time!

I tell you what. You let AF na company break a fw big runs and you will see Neyland come alive like nothing else.

I agree VolBeef88,
There is nothing like a great run to get the team and crowd going! Hence my earlier comment about opening up the field with the passing game and then busting one up the middle! YEE HAA! I don't know, it just seemed like the Vols were fractionalized last year. It appeared that some players would play well with one QB and not the other. I would just like to see some team play and some good coaching. Take some chances! Excite the Team! Excite the crowd! Maybe have a play or two that makes you laugh! Just might work!

I think I saw enough of those last year.

I don't care how boring they are, win and it doesn't matter.

i've never been to or watched a game that TN lost and had a good time while doing so.

I think the season begins with UT as a pretty conservative run-oriented team. Let's see what Foster can do. Given the problems at QB last year, it just seems to me that the Vols have to start the season figuring to keep to a ground game. If Ainge gets more comfortable as things wear on and you can open it up, great. But I think you start the season planning to win games 20-14 with a ball control type offense.

I see a lot of screens and overloaded formations from Cutcliffe this year. I think Cut will force defensive backs to play man on our wideouts, and in my opinion, if our wideouts catch the ball this year, there are not many DBs that can shut them down one on one.
