Just read on TonyBasillo.com that these guys are "difference makers" that we should be on the lookout for... i wasnt even aware either had interest in us... where do we stand with them???

Someone said we'd talked to Darius recently but not sure on the Elam front. I would consider both of these guys reaches of pretty sizeable margins.

I don't know how hard we are looking at Darius. It surprised me to hear that the coaches are still calling WRs. I thought we were done there. I guess they expect Cobbs and Meline to end up on defense. I dunno.

Elam is interested in visiting other schools and if he does, he will certainly visit here. The coaches are on him as hard as any other prospect and they don't know "quit."

I think the coaches are doing everything in their power to keep kids from going to Florida. We are recruiting half of their commit list it seems like and are in the top 2 with them on about 5 or 6 different guys that they want to land.

Darius White is the cream of the WR crop though... I wouldnt have a problem with having him lined up on one side and Ambles on the other... then you put teauge in the slot... wow we would be unstoppable

If we can get them to come for a visit, I think our chances obviously improve. It would be a dagger to the heart of Meyer if we got Elam to play for UT. That, however, is pretty unlikely. But hey, this staff never quits so who knows. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

According to X, there are some players who are simply too talented not to go after and White is one of those.

Also, I'm not sure that we are making a concerted effort to keep kids from Florida. I would say that it's probably more that we like what they like, which is speed, and they have a very good recruiting class that includes a lot of players we like. The fact that we are in the same region probably also contributes to our overlapping recruiting boards. It is interesting that this happens so much with Florida in particular and not as much with teams like Alabama, though.

Don't you find it strange though that we just called one of their 3 star WRs that committed back in June?

I find it a bit weird too, unless they really do have defensive plans for Meline and Cobbs both. But I really just get the feeling that because we offer a billion prospects, we'd invite every prospect from 2-5 stars to Knoxville just to talk us up for a while and generate viral word of mouth (Vol-itis) about what we're doing up here.

Maybe Patton's slightly interesting to the staff, but maybe he's good buddies with someone else we're after. Or maybe they're just testing the waters of UF players no matter who they are.

Yeah that would be a crazy lineup, even if you used Milton in red zone.

Oh wait but we will have Stephens getting them the ball next year (cue the deal or no deal bust song)

Didnt Elam already make a comment somewhere along the lines of It will be fun beating the Vols year after year..?

Getting Elam to come to UT is so unlikely it's almost not even worth mentioning. However, if it did happen it would be a bigger coup than the Richardson and Teague affair.

Recruiting wars are so much fun.

You have only seen Stephens play as Soph in Clawfense putting up better stats than Ponder at FSU put up (incl. positive TDs/ INTs ratio). We haven't seen him this year. If you want to make a comment about a QB, i would reserve that to Crompton.

Did you watch the Wyoming game last year? I know Crompton has mental issues on the field...but don't you think the coaching staff is knowledgeable enough about their players? He has been a backup to Crompton for two years...let me say that again...to Crompton. We should all hope Bray is the starter next year.

Guys Meline will proly go to safety but Cobbs is definitely a WR. From his comments the coaches have told him thats where he's playing.

Wasn't ambles visiting florida this past weekend? He also said he was going to take all of his visits, he could be lookin around. Of course he has been recruiting for UT pretty hard.
