He made it to an unofficial visit. He says he really likes Tennessee. The coaches were great and its a good group of guys. He's good friends with Inky Johnson b/c his father coached Inky and Jamal Lewis in high school. He's also made unofficials to Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia.

Speaking of Inky does anybody know how he is these days?

I don't see how we let this guy slip through our fingers at this point. This would be a total recruiting failure to allow him to go somewhere else. His dad coached Inky Johnson and Jamal Lewis?! We have better get his butt at UT.

Though the elder Myles appeared pleased that his son wants to take several visits this summer, he didn’t hesitate when given an opportunity to give Georgia a ringing endorsement.
“Georgia is definitely in the running for Darren,” Myles said. “They’re an outstanding program and they are close to home. Georgia is in great shape in the race.
“They are outstanding people. And I want to make sure when I’m leaving campus and dropping him off, he’ll be in good hands and with a coaching staff caring about him. And I know that’s one of the staffs that can do that.”

From the GT site. Story about the work he put in in the classroom this summer, and how it paid off with good SAT scores. He lists his most recent offers as Ohio State, Illinois, Louisville and Georgia Tech, and plans to visit Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame later in the summer. Comfort level will be a factor, as may distance.

we're not too close and not too far away...bodes well for us

Would love to have this kid but I doubt it. Here is ESPN's evaluation of Darren, he is on the ESPN 150 watch list:

"Any football team will get a lot of miles from Myles. This athletic superman never is on the bench and at about 6'1, is physically impressive. He can play safety, wide receiver and quarterback and is equally as dangerous to the opposition at all three positions, but most impressive-- he can play corner. As a safety, is an instinctive defensive back that can play the run and pass with equal ability. Keeps good leverage on the ball in terms of run support. Comes up at proper angle and rarely overruns the football. Sure tackler in the openfield but sometimes doesn't wrap. Shows lateral speed and can change direction while maintaining balance and body control. Sheds blockers and fights to get to ball carrier. Aggressive on the blitz by chasing ball down or flushing the quarterback. Plays zone coverage very well from the free safety position. Reads route progression and gets great break on the ball from both three deep and halves coverage. High points the ball and times the interception to perfection. Running quarterback that can throw on the run but is especially productive breaking contain. Makes defenders miss in the openfield and doesn't let anyone get a solid hit on him. As a receiver, shows soft hands and has the courage to catch the ball in a crowd. Has enough speed to take the ball the distance after the reception. Myles has the potential to be big time college player who has great football skills and can excel either side of the football. Weight training will be important once he becomes a one sport athlete. In time, he could end up being an exceptional player possibly on the perimeter when college coaches finally get to see him there."
