Possibly Rowing. Possibly Equestrian. Possibly just going to class and catching a sheet ton of Lady Vols games. maybe a few mens games. and of course all the football games.

With us not being from around here, can someone give me the scoop on how the ticket sales will go for students?

I know the Lady Vols are the hot ticket, and she will want to be there.

For the record (in case you are lining up to hate me)

Freshman year, Florida
Sophomore, Michigan State (my fav Spartan is now your WR Coach)
Jr year , didnt happen.
:boobies: :3cheers: and the slight hint of cuervo.

never been a vols hater. My daughters choices came down to MSU and UT, because we live here now. Pre-Vet. No Pictures.

a little ticket advice, would be much appreciated.

Student ticket sales here are run through the website bigorangetix.utk.edu
All sports except for football are free to students and all they have to do is present their student ID for admission. Hope she enjoys her time here!

Tickets for students to get are easy for all sports - football just costs money and you get a voucher to all home games. Then you stand in line to collect them and see what seats you get. The earlier you show up to pick them normally the better. But not always.

If she ends up playing a sport getting tickets for her parents should be doable as well. But otherwise you will be treated just like the masses.

Maybe worse since you are a Gator - just kidding.

She should have no problem with Women's bball tickets. While popular with fans, the students aren't into them as much. A lot of this is due to the early Sunday starts. Lots of hangover nursing / time to actually start that paper due Monday.

Student tickets are free except Football Games. All games are first come, first serve except football. Football tickets are done on a value system called "Loyalty Points". The people with the most loyalty points get the most desirable seats in the student section. These can be gained by attending football games, showing up early, and going to other sporting events. You "apply" for tickets and based on you loyalty points, you will get a ticket. I believe you have 24 hours to claim your ticket before it is invalid and gets put in the waiting list. Anyways, go to sporting events-get better seats

Bigorangetix.utk.edu has everything you need on it to explain the student ticketing system. Football and both men's and women's basketball require that you register to attend from that website. For all other sporting events students can show up and their volcard (student id) gets them in.

Other than football, all seating is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Your daughter will never have a problem getting a good seat for any Lady Vols sporting event. I've shown up 10 minutes before tipoff and sat front row with 3 other people before. There are a few games where this may not be true; the yearly live pink game is one of those.

If she plans on attending many of the sporting events I would recommend that in the fall she register to be part of the Student Rewards program. You basically get free Vols gear for attending events.

Welcome to the Vol family!

I think if you bring an old can of vegetables to a Lady Vols game, you can sit in one of the 12,000 empty seats.

Congratulations on your daughter being accepted to the University of Tennessee. My daughter followed in my footsteps and graduated from the Hill two years ago. She got a job right out of school and is now gloriously independent.

One piece of advice I wish someone had given me. If you let (insert "pay for" here) her join a Sorority, then she will spend four years planning and then attending large and extravagent parties. One consequence of that seemingly innocent decision will be that her vision of her subsequent wedding will then take on those same characteristics. That is, large and extravagant.

The good news is that you'll have a great time. You know the bad news.

Regardless - She is a fine young woman now and I thank the Lord that he made her that way in spite of me. May you experience the same.

Enjoy !

Thank you. I know she will have a great time. We have been there for a Rowing Camp, and she has spent time there for a Veterinary summer Camp. She loves the campus. Loves the people she has met. Getting used to the Vols thing. But it wont take her long to be a full on, head first Vol.

Thanks again

Thanks. This is going to be a great experience for my kid, and Im going to make sure I enjoy the ride as well.

Im also trying to figure out if I need to get season tickets as well, or if I should just plan on buying from scalpers for the first year. We are a family of 8 right now (3 fosters) but should be shrinking to 6 by fall. Just not certain I want to buy 6 season tickets!! I will be 100% Vol, except for 1 game a year, and then I will be VERRRY quiet, and respectful. I promise!!!:whistling:

Thank you. it is indeed a great school. We are very happy to have her here. We lived in Michigan until her freshman year of HS when we moved to Cookeville. She is a huge MSU fan and is turning down a full academic scholly to MSU just to be closer to family. If UT were not such a great place, she would have just went to MSU and dealt with the distance from home some other way.

She is looking forward to fall.

Thanks again. oh, and I understand your point of view, but I cant give up the name. . . . sigh. . . even though I will be cheering on tVols.

Thanks. Much appreciated. And I appreciate the sense of humor also. Some of you will like me, some of you will not. But most of you will understand that this is my kids legacy, not mine and I am a full on fan of lilGatorBill.

Thanks again. we will have a lot of fun here!!
