No S***, but I read a post, and I dont remember what site but the poster claimed that his sister was Davonte's ride to the airport. He said that his sister told him that Davonte needed to leave and go back home... and I quote "to hit a lick"... I dont know if this is true but you never know. Its can be hard to get away from a certain lifestyle no matter the support one may have. Hope he ends up playing somewhere though...

Was promised plenty of playing time while being recruited by Dooley and staff. But got here and no immediate playing time was available.. This combined with him being extremely home sick led to his return Louisiana

For some kids the reality of being away from home is overwhelming to say the least and kids just can't cope with it... It is a shame because I would loved to see what this young man was capable of!!!

He has been removed from the team’s official roster, and reports have surfaced that he will enroll at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss., a junior college located approximately three hours from his hometown of Crowley, La.
“Pearl River actually came down a few days before Davante left for Tennessee and said that if it doesn’t work out over there, he has an offer here to come play,” Bourque’s father, Kirk Landry, told the Rayne Acadian-Tribune, a newspaper in Bourque’s hometown.

How would he have known if it were available or not, he wasn't here but like a week.

It takes more than one good practice to move up the depth chart.

In an interview, his father said that "Some of the things that were discussed during my son's official visit did not happen when he enrolled at U.T." He is disappointed."


So, I would guess that one of the coaches promised him certain things on the field but when he arrived on campus, he realized that it was an open competition, so he left. Kinda like the Pat Martin situation.....a few seasons ago....

FWIW, "hit a lick" refers to finding a quick way to earn cash. A "lick" is a quick way to earn money. Thats how I have always heard it when I lived in Florida, Atlanta, and in Houston. It doesn't mean doing drugs like many people assume- but it could be selling drugs if it is quick and easy in that area.

According to Basillio, Bourque was "flat trucked" on a play by McCullers, and didn't play again. We coined the term "bourque'd" for playing careers ended early by McCullers.

Dude couldn't even do the foot drills. Looked like a giraffe. Q Watson looked like a NFL prospect compared to Bourque in the freshman workouts.
