"That is regrettable because anybody who saw the game knows it was not a 16-point game but still we go home with that on our docket.

Uhhh, Davy....you might wanna check the scoreboard. :moon2:

Odom was pretty animated at the game. You could tell he really wanted to win this one. What was funny is there was a vol fan behind the SC bench that was standing up and mocking every move that Odom made. It was pretty funny.

It was pretty close the whole way. I'd call it a 6 or 8 point game in favor of UT before they blew it open in the last couple minutes. Without Balkman, it would've been a UT game by 15 or 20 the whole way.

i understand what he is saying. our losses look like it might not have been close, but we were in all 3 till under 8 minutes in all of them.

but dont u agree? i mean we could have easily won this game by 30. whenever coach pearl gets a big prescence in the middle, this team will dominate

if we find a pg for next year and let him take over, we will be awfully tough to beat. we add 4 guys to the middle next year and maybe 5.

As good as this year has been so far, what do you think of the possibility that next year might not be as good? Losing Watson is going to hurt the guard play, which is the strength of the team right now. Everyone will have a lot more experience under Pearl by then, but the big men are going to be young and the PG much more inexperienced than Watson. Not saying I'm not confident that Pearl can make it happen, just throwing that out there.

It all depends on what we do with the last scholly and what we do in our offseason program. We might not have that big time scorer at PG next year, but we won't need that. We will only need someone to run the offense. If we keep good chemistry, I think we could easily be better next year.

I know that they are no CJ Watson, but if Smith progresses as much next year as he did last year and Howell improves to give a breather we will fine next year. Even if we do not sign a 5 star guard.

I personally dont' mind keeping expectations lower for next year. See 2005 football season. However, I will continue to enjoy every minute of this season!

Dont pound on Odum too hard.... After the first comment mentioned aboved he went on to say that South Carilina played about as well as they could for 37 minutes.

That says alot about the Vols..... We did not play well in the first half and hung right in there with them.

I think another thing to consider here is that next year, the cat will be out of the bag for good on BP. We won't be a "suprise" to anyone, and i don't think anyone will not take TN bball seriously....they won't be looking past TN on the schedule any longer....cause, even with the TX win, then the OSU loss, people were still like, was that a fluke? and just since the SEC has started, have people really began taking us seriously. We'll get an idea of how BP prepares for that the rest of this season...

Yeah, as we all know, that game was close for a while. the 16 pts looks great as a final, but we all know, it was really 6-8 pt game. And Balkman, that guy was all over the place. How do you think he would do in BP's system?

I dunno... but we sure were giving him hell after he fouled Watson HARD and wasn't even called for it. :clapping:

yeah, i was just thinking from a pure "effort" standpoint. that guy was the only thing keeping USC in the game there late...

Well, it looked like 16 to me at the end of 40 minutes. Somebody tell Odom he's 0-2 against UT this year. . . .and that games are not 37 minutes long. . . .and good luck next year.
