Coached at UT 17 years.His last 6 as offensive coordinator.Coached 8 players that became first round NFL draft picks(Eli,Peyton,Jamal,Deuce McAllistor, to name a few).In 17 years at UT,the Vols went to 16 bowl games, winning 11 and 5 in a row one time(85-90).He had 5 sec championships and one national championship.Won the Frank Broyles award in 98, runner up 97.Given to college football's top assistant coach.

I'm not sure you can give Cutcliffe the NC.

He got us there, and without him, I don't think we would have been undefeated, but he did leave before that game.

We should go ahead and work on getting him one this year, just to take the controversy out of it.

If we judge assistant coaches resumes by those benchmarks, Ed Orgeron is one the greatest coaches in the history of college football.

He does have some sound football background experience, that's for sure.

He will get the same opportunity that Cut had at Ole Miss. Coaching Russell Maryland, Warren Sapp, Cortez Kennedy, and Frostee Rucker (love typing that name) is a pretty impressive track record.

We all remember that Cut frustrated UT fans during his tenure. In some minds his hiring was a compromise and that CPF was given a golden opportunity to add some new life to the program. I was personally hoping that the Vols would hire Chris Hatcher.

BUT given the success and player development (at nearly every offensive position) in the mid to late 90's, and comparing that to what happened when Cut left, it is unfair to think he was not a large contributor to the success of the UT program.

Fulmer got the best of both worlds, someone he is comfortable with and who has a proven track record.
