Is anyone more excited than I am about having David Cutcliffe back. It's now exciting again to watch our offense; I now have no idea what's coming each play (we all knew what randy sanders was going to do). Anyways, our defense it quick and tough, they always have been. Now they can rest a little more, not having to be on the field nearly the entire game, which will make them even better during the season. I'd say much of the credit (even though it's only been one game) goes to Cutcliffe and the new offensive coaches. Any thoughts?

Definitely nice to see the offense clicking the way it was on Saturday evening.

I loved the Cutcliffe quote I read on here, where he said something to the effect of, "I can't wait for practice on Monday, so I can show this team how good they can really be."

That'll get you psyched.

I think we ran a lot of the same stuff that we've always run, but we definitely were a little more varied in the formations we used. One of the comments I read a Cal defensive player was that they were surprised that we played more of a smashmouth game than they expected.

I love having coach Cut back and i think moving Trooper to the WR coach has made that much of a difference as well. the WRs didn't have a single drop the whole game. I am very impressed with the vols revamped O. And i think it will get even better with each game

Amazing how good it looks when it's executed, huh?

It really is. The funny thing is how we put up all those passing yards and threw the ball less than 20 times I think.

What the heck was he expecting!? This is SEC football. You don't play that way, you lose.

it was awesom but remember that was against a freshman DB we cant pull that one off against florida, the swain td was my fav, bc it showed the speed, although they all showed speed but swain burnt him DEEP

I have to say I am excited about Ainge and the way he played. I think the contact really helped him a lot. In the preseason, that is. Its not like anybody got within 5 feet of him all night.

Good line play, and receivers blocking was incredible. I've watched the game three times now and Meacham looked like a headhunter running around and looking for people to knock down when he didn't have the ball. That I loved...

And then there's the defense...

they mentioned during the game that the new WR coach, Trooper, had the recievers wear 10 lb weighted vests everyday in practice during the summer. it's not surprise that our recievers looked faster. i also heard the cutcliffe wasn't goin to put up with the dropped passes like last year

I am already hearing rumours that if there is a bowl win CPF will retire and name Cut as his choice for a successor. Granted, I do not believe it for a second but I have heard it.

I can name one guy: Phillip Fulmer!

You're absolutely right about that. Now that fulmer has full trust in the defense (as always - gotta love chavis) and now the offense, he can go back to just being head coach. I loved it when he lost his hat on that first down by the sidelines. That right there, along with his motivating the players, goes along way the players and the attitude towards this season.

yeah, we still saw a lot of the same kind of plays...but the formations were a bit different, and then, shocker of the night, we caught the ball and actaully broke tackles after the catch. two thinks we struggled at mightily last year.

was good to see. we executed the offense and played phyiscal football.

Maybe wearing those weighted vests help the psyche. felling that weight on you as you run routes. First instinct is not to hit the ground when the DB breathes on you.

Seeing as how CPF has stated on multiple occasions that he was stir crazy and driving Vicky nuts during idle time last Christmas, I don't foresee him retiring anytime soon or her letting him retire anytime soon, for that matter.

That rumor makes a lot of sense to me . . . A lot of people walk away from guaranteed contracts worth $2 million+ per year.
