David Shaw Resigns at Stanford

He said he's not eager to coach again but I think he'd be a great analyst on one of the sports networks.

Maybe ESPN could replace Fowler with him? High hopes?

I think he’d be a fun addition to Gameday. His stoic, calm, reasoned demeanor compared to McAfee would be hilarious to me for some reason.

He’s a different type. An alumnus who wanted to win at Stanford the right way. And did until recently. The NIL was most likely the final nail. Could see him being like Chris Petersen and being TRULY done like he says.

He definitely seems like the guy who just saw the NIL and Transfer landscape and decided it was time.

I would need a long, reasoned out explanation from him how he went from a 82-26 coach to a 14-28 coach before I hired him.
Easy. The Harbaugh players disappeared and his offense never modernized at all. He is not a good coach and rode Harbaugh's coattails extremely well to the point some people believe he is competent.

Good point on the instant eligibility portal. Even bigger factor than NIL. His bread and butter were those third year sophomores and fourth year juniors who emerged after development…especially OL. Now other teams are shopping every off-season.

Harbaugh definitely built it but Shaw won the PAC in year 5 with his dudes

They tightened up eligibility requirements and then the transfer portal wrecked Stanford. They can only take grad transfers. And school not willing to play ball with NIL deals. Tough spot for any P5 coach.

Tell me you don’t know anything about football without telling me you don’t know anything about football.

Fowler needs to cover some pompous sport to go with her personality.
