She is one of those that typically holits Sec pitching better than weaker pitching and it looks as if this year will be no different just better.

Notes: Melissa Davin played a major role in UT's three wins this week. After a 2-for-3 effort in UT's 15-0 (5) rout of Western Carolina on March 11, Davin went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, five RBIs and three runs scored in Tennessee's SEC-opening 9-2 win over Arkansas on March 14. Davin bashed another home run and drove in three in a 2-for-2 showing as Tennessee cruised past Arkansas, 8-0 (6), to win the series.

Davin's five-RBI performance against Arkansas on March 14 tied for the team's season high and her grand slam was Tennessee's second grand slam of the season and the first of her career. Davin's three hits in the game were also her season high and her most since tallying four hits against Tennessee State on April 2, 2013.

On the week, Davin had a 1.273 slugging percentage and a .765 on-base percentage, combining for an impressive 2.038 OPS

Not mentioned.... She was also Hit By Pitch twice. and in a key point in game 1 of Saturday's DH... She tagged up at first base and advance to second on Shipman's fly out at the wall to deep center and later scored to go ahead 3-1 in Saturday's 5-4 loss. On base 11 out of 13 plate appearances. ( 5 hits, 4 walks, HBP, 1 tough luck FC )

Coach moved her to #2 in the batting order before the Western Carolina and she has responded favorably.

• Hit two walk off home runs against Mississippi State.
• Hugo was responsible for the game-winning run in every game against Mississippi State this weekend (all by way of the home run); the first walk off was a grand slam that sealed an 11-2 win over Mississippi State and the series; second walk off came in the following game (the second of a double header) when she hit a solo home run that clinched the 9-1, five-inning win and the SEC sweep; scored the winning run in the SEC opener with a solo home run that gave Georgia a 1-0 lead, which it held for the remainder of the game to get the win.
• Helped Georgia to an SEC sweep, one of only two teams in the conference to sweep the weekend
• Recorded a hit in every game this week and scored a run in every game this week
• Extended her reached base streak to 26 games.
• Led the team in runs scored, hits, home runs, RBI, total bases and slugging percentage on the week
• Leads the SEC in home runs with 11 and is one of only three SEC players with double-digit home runs.

• Posted two wins and a save in the Gamecocks’ 3-1 week that included a series win over No. 13/15 Texas A&M, South Carolina’s first series win over a ranked SEC opponent since 2009.
• Sarratt tossed her second complete game of the year in the first victory over the Aggies, giving up one unearned run in the seventh while striking out nine, a career best in league play.
• Came back and picked up the save in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
• The save moved her into a tie for fourth on South Carolina’s single-season list with five other student-athletes.
• It also knotted her with Melissa Hendon in third all-time with seven career saves.
• On the week, allowed two earned runs on 11 hits in 15.2 innings of work, striking out 17.

Freshman of the Week
Annie Aldrete • Tennessee
Catcher • Monterey, Calif.

• Remained hot at the plate this week, hitting .417 with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs.
• She hit the first grand slam of her collegiate career on March 11 in a 15-0 (5) rout of Western Carolina.
• Aldrete also had a solo home run in UT’s 8-0 (6) win over Arkansas on March 15 to take the season series.
• Aldrete’s grand slam against Western Carolina was Tennessee’s first of the season.

Nice to see Aldrete coming on so well. All three freshmen Californians have not disappointed. Combined with the upper classmen they should be rolling by tournament time. Just wish we could find that second pitcher to spell Renfroe and provide some hope for next year.

regarding second pitcher...

if they would follow the game plan of Gabriel, Tarango, Gaffin.... each 1 time through the lineup and then bring Ellen in if necessary to close... as appropriate... would be a winning formula...

Agree, it worked against Arkansas for 6 innings. If someone is going to hit a 3 run homer to tie than so be it but I would abandon the strategy yet.
