Daytona Test Speeds

Thanks for the link. I'm sure you are aware these test times are usually not all that indicative of how they will do when it becomes for real. Glad to see Gibbs doing this well so soon, many think they will be a much better team to judge Toyota's competiveness by. As far as 1-1/2 mile tracks, that is defintely a better guide as far as season long performance since so many tracks are that length. Daytona is unigue, not really much like Talladega except for restrictor plates.

I think there is a Las Vegas test after they finish at Daytona. We will know more about where teams stand after that.

Paul Menard had the top speed at winter testing last year in Daytona. Extra credit to anyone who can tell me where he started in the 500.

Keep an eye on Smoke, he is looking strong. Not the fastest any session, but in the top 5 most every session. What I see as holding back just enough to not tip their hand.

Amen! Just got my new JGR shirt and Smoke sticker in the mail last week! Gotta get ready for the new year!:)

I have the most respect for Joe Gibbs of all the team owners. I really wish he could have kept B. Labonte. I look for Kyle Bush to win many races if he settles down, and Gibbs is the best one to do it. Just cannot pull for # 20.

It means they have gone from pretender to contender, but refer to previous posts re validity of these speeds. Also, notice the speeds for drafting vs single car. Quite a different list! That should be more accurate for the actual race. Toyotas still top the list, just not the same ones or as many of them.
