So wanting to play for a white coach and saying that on TV as a white player would be okay right? No media backlash from that?Wanting to play for a black HC as a black kid is not racist. It’s not really something a lot of people can understand that’s ok to not be able to relate.
Is it short sighted and probably a bad choice for his career? Yes, I think so but we all have to make our choices.
More like 13-15, depending on who stays and goes. And ideally the freshmen redshirt. Elarbee does need to get the young guys developed. Doesn't change that we need a few for depth. For depth we need to develop our young guys imo and not waste a spot or 3 on backups. We have damn near 20 OL currently on the roster with 4 freshmen coming in.
Making any choice based on race is poor justification for that decision (hiring employee, student application, choosing a spouse, etc). I don’t blame the kid because as a minority it feels justified and supportive towards the group you are a part of, but no matter your race, that does not make it the right decision.Wanting to play for a black HC as a black kid is not racist. I think it goes to him being young and dumb. I bet it was something he was told that seemed to sound right and made a mistake and repeated it. But, a comment like that could cause a fracture among the team. And not just among the white players. There are so many things wrong with that interview. First of all, is "dog" a racial term now? I'm confused. You can't be white and be a "dog" now? If he has these convictions and he is a man of honor and promoting honor among his brethren, why was all of his top schools with white head coaches? Either he has been duped by a fast talking race-baiter at the last moment to the deg or he intentionally mislead all of these coaches out of some racial discord. I don't understand how you get in public and try to promote some type of honor that you have either just acquired or never had to begin with.
Kid went to a Coach who didn’t even know his Starting Center’s name good luck to him.Making any choice based on race is poor justification for that decision (hiring employee, student application, choosing a spouse, etc). Young men have very impressionable minds. It’s a shame that was said on National TV. It’s also a shame that people of power use that against a kid to make him believe one way or anotherAfter his show of racism I’d rather not have him. He can stay there.
If a white kid said he commited to Heupel because he wanted to play for a coach that looked like him, twitter and media sources would immediately bury the kid and call him racist and cancel him.
But seaton goes up there and says that, ( I didn’t watch it but I’m sure…) and he gets paraded around because of the statement.

Hopefully you are not insinuating that Elarbee isn’t a good recruiter. Just what he was able to do with Wright in 2022 should make him one of the most sought after coaches in the eyes of a young OL prospectRecruiting isn't just the HC. It's his staff as well. As a staff, they have to do better. It may mean replacing some staff members, which he seems reluctant to do. Recruiting has to be better if we want to reach the stated goal of winning championships.
they are too busy trying to cancel a kid for wearing face paint and an indian headdress.Crazy they's ppl on here defending what he said.. let a white kid say some stuff like that and it'd be all over the internet & sport shows for rest of that day & prob longer. He'd be canceled and hell prob lose his ride. Didnt a white kid lose his scholarship a couple seasons ago over sayin some song lyrics?? I rest my case your honor
Statements like that fuel the flames of racism in America. How do you teach that the color of one's skin does not matter when you have youth making statements that it does?Young men have very impressionable minds. It’s a shame that was said on National TV. Oh my god give me a break. This statement is asinine. He is not in a system that has perpetually oppressed people that look like him, he easily has the opportunity to select someone that acts and looks like him. There have always been white coaches; however there haven’t been any coaches like Deion that are black and have openly been themself. We are only 25-30 years past the gatekeeping of the Qb position.
