What is it that we're missing that these other schools are doing? Is it money, culture, fit, the fact that we haven't won big? Combination of all the above? NIL was supposed to close the gap for recruits like this I thought. But we still consistently seem to be in it until the final 2 or 3 and then something inevitably happens and then the takeaway is "we'll be fine" and we stay hovering just at or around 11th or 12th. That's still a great class but it's not elite. We need recruits like this to close the gap on Bama, Georgia, and now probably Texas too IMO.

Honestly I’m wondering if the Nico deal getting out was bad for us in the long run. Hasn’t it been mentioned that Seaton reached out himself in like September? I’m wondering if he was using Tennessee to try and up his offer from a school like Bama or Oregon. It sounds like from multiple schools we had the best NIL offer (it may have changed in the past 24 hours). I just wonder if these kids are using the reputation that we have with Nico as a negotiating tool with other schools

Not a lot of updates right now.

Every other site is just trying to make sense of the AP post when it finally made its way to them (2-4 hours after he originally posted it)

I maintain that AP breaking that, and no one else having their own updates, is significant

AP did add this morning that USC is not in it
Bama site said a couple days ago that the staff stopped by IMG for visits and Seaton wasn't there (already in LA)

I’d love to see what the Oregon site thinks about the LA thing.
The mods haven't said anything.

The Oregon posters think it's good because their staff was in LA.

The Ohio St posters think it's good because their coach will be in AZ.

Our posters think it's good because our coach is in Vegas.

The Alabama posters think everything is great because they're Alabama. Which is actually true when the committee and the conference do everything they can to make you feel special, but that's for another thread.

I LOL’d in a meeting, thanks for that! 😂

Recent success plays against us still. All our opponents in this one are in NY6 or CFP and have good histories of putting OL in the league. We won a NY6 last year and put an OL top 10 so I doubt we’re far away from being viewed on the same level by top recruits. Just have to sustain momentum for a few years.

Reactions: hooter vol
So, MetalVol drives by on Monday. Gets us all excited. We secure the final in-home visit for today, and now we learn that visit is no longer happening….recruiting is stupid.
Guys/Gals, it’s ok. Calm down.
This is recruiting. We are going up against the best of the best. You win some, you lose some. Not saying we lost him. This is part of it, back and forth, back and forth.

Here’s my thing:

1) Seems to have the best relationship with Heupel and Elarbee

2) Consistently reiterates the development of Elarbee (unleashing Wright’s potential and turning him into a Top 10 pick)

3) Likes our system

4) Competitive NIL (the top offer)

Either way, TN is in this as much as you can possibly be at this point. We knew this would be a roller coaster ride, just have to hang on to our seats.

One would think the lure of playing in the SEC would be the tipping point for him.
