DE/LB Joseph Henderson Committed To Vols

If you look at the "avg." star column, one might be a little less excited about the total points. Lots of teams with better averages. It is going to take many more 4 and 5 star recruits to have a real top 10 class. Five 5 stars and holding for quite a while now and some schools are just starting to heat up.

We are not finished yet either. This will be a selling point and evidence to players that this is a place to come and play. I would rather have the lead than be waiting for miracles on signing day again.

The more players you sign, the better depth you have. So the # of player actually ARE important. Don't get me wrong, I don't want us to sign 31 2*s. but on the flip side USC had a bunch of 5*s last year, I think they had 5. Yet they only had like 17 total recruits. So yeah, there's a lot of flash to their class, but it lacks in substance. A few injuries here, a player or two dismissed there and where is their highly rated 5* class? The class ranked high, they had a high star rank. They have absolute ZERO depth.

Someone not named Butch gets it. Bama's first class under Saban had 32 players in it. It ranked #1. They had 2 5*s. that class was littered with 3*s that were very productive. Lard Azz Cody and Marcel Darius to name a couple legit All-SEC, All American, NFL dudes. IIRC we can sign 31...no? Some of our 3*s we have in this class are gonna be very good players. And I actually think we get a 5* or two not named Hurd. There's just something going on over there and I'm really not sure if it can be stopped. At first I was cautiously optimistic. I thought maybe we had a little momentum, signed a few legacy and in state dudes, good deal. But this is for real. These dudes are coming in flocks from everywhere. Something is going on.

To be a strong program Tennessee has to recruit Nationally. That's what Tennessee did from 1993-2004 and did it quite well

That's great info. That's exciting and reminds me of how a HoF coach we used to have recruited. We have to recruit nationally at Tennessee.

There's a very long road ahead, but things really seem to be going as well as they possibly can. Are the Vols where I'd like them to be? No. Are the Vols going in the right direction?

Definitely, yes. Can't remember the last time I felt like this since the Dark Ages began.

GBO!

I'll admit I dissed CBJ when he didn't make more noise last Feb.

I'll admit, I was all-in on Gruden as the only home-run hire for Tennessee.

I'll be damned if CBJ isn't making this cynic a believer. He's doing work and delivering.

Can't wait to see him coach a game at Tennessee.

He won Me over with His speech on taking the Tennessee job. He sounded like He had a plan and was going to work His ass off to make it work.

I'm telling you guys:

The rest of the SEC better take notice. What this coaching staff is doing right now is almost unheard of.

The guys we are in on to push this thing over the top in February should have them shaking in their boots.

I've seen a lot of football in my 29 years. Never seen anything like this. That includes when Bammer got Saban.

Absolutely amazing.

This is like the job Johnny Majors did at Pitt in 1973. He had a huge recruiting class(100 players) and the team went from 2-7-1 in 1972 to 12-0 National Champions in 1976.

It's unheard of at any school when you take into account the state of the program upon arrival (once proud superpower on the ropes) and the fact that he hasn't coached a single game yet.

It really is astonishing.
