Got this from TOS but thought I'd post it here so people would know whats coming up.

The NCAA Quiet/Dead Periods:

12/17/18/19 - Quiet period

12/20 - 1/3/2011 - Dead period

1/9 - Quiet period Coaches convention

1/10 - 1/13 - Dead period Coaches convention

1/14 - 1/29 - FULL STEAM AHEAD

1/30 - Quiet period

1/31 - 2/3 - Dead period

2/4 - 4/14 - Quiet period

4/15 - 5/31 - Spring evaluation period

FYI -

- A quiet period is a period where there is no off campus contact allowed between coaches and prospects. You can have on campus contact including official and unofficial visits.

- A dead period is no physical contact on or off campus. You can have one phone conversation per week and mail.

- The rub to this quiet/dead period has been texting and you can bet this is going to be addressed soon.

It seems to me that we have already had our quiet period the last month or so :whistling:

Really don't have to worry about texting and other shadiness with this staff. I love it.

Speaking of "quiet period"...this last few weeks with visitors & home visits & all with no commitments, & moreover, no big news of getting close to any new commits is killing me! I want some news! Insider stuff! Who's all but a formality of a commit, barring some crazy change?! Argh, I wish some of these dudes would pull the trigger or mouth off a bit about what they're thinking!

A couple of added points, I believe the staff can initiate contact once during a dead period but there is no limit on the amount of times a recruit can contact the staff.

Not sure they've ever addressed the skype issue? I think there were rumors that some staffs were using this as a gray area of the rules to still have contact with recruits. Does anyone know if the NCAA has addressed it?

seriously tho, this has been a very boring last couple of weeks. any fresh news on Marcus Jackson or Byron Moore? I thought surely one or two commits would hit before the dead period.

Here is the last article I could find on it. I'm sure the NCAA will fix this loophole soon but I couldn't find that they have as of yet.

College football recruiting: In an ever-advancing world of technology, coaches and NCAA officials strive to keep up. - ESPN

"(Skyping) is kind of fudging the rules a little bit," said Phillips, who once served as UK's recruiting coordinator. "But, actually, there's no rule. It's not illegal. People are doing it until it catches on, then the NCAA will say, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, that's not right. It's really like going into somebody's home; it's not really like a phone call.' Now they're about to outlaw that.
