I was thinking about Buzz Peterson and all of Dean Smith's ex players and assistants and wondering had he or Bobby Knight produced the most or best. Heading BK's list is Coach K at Duke followed by Steve Alford etc. The biggist star for Dean Smith might be Roy Williams at Kansas now at UNC.Also Didn't Larry Brown play for Dean Smith?

Just something to ponder.

George Karl and Doug Moe also played for Den Smith. I doubt there's a bigger Bob Knight fan on this board, but Coach Smith wins this one. Coach K is the one star Coach Knight has produced. A lot of the former Knight assistants,i.e. DeVoe, Weltlich, Bliss, Donewald, are out of coaching now. In terms of sheer numbers, my guess is Knight has more. In the "70s and '80s, almost all of his assistants seemed to get head coaching positions. Coach Smith's proteges have had more success.
