Who has read it? And what are your initial thoughts/reactions?

Received it as a Christmas present and have been reading it the past couple days.

I also got it for Christmas. It's pretty interesting and funny so far. Enjoying it.

I'm interested to see if the book actually changes people's thoughts towards Bush. As of yet he has been very candid on his thought processes on many issues.

I think that this will be my next read. I have long thought that I have been a little hard on the guy. I thought reading the book might help some if that and perhaps reinforce only the parts that deserve reinforcing.

I pre-ordered it.

Read half of it, and haven't read any since. Primarily because I've been busy, but also because half of the book is regurgitation of stories from his subordinate's memoirs.

Im sure it will be mixed.

As do I. I do give him kudos for his reasoning behind much of his decisions. He has been vilified, like all other public servants have at one time or another, but deep down I think he's a pretty decent guy.

Got it for Christmas. Read about 100 pages so far.

Initial reaction was definite a bit surprised about some of the stuff in his background in chapter 1. In many ways throughly amazed at how he totally turned his life around from age 40 to 50. Wish I had half of his self-discipline.

As far as reactions, it will be mixed. Those who like him will continue to like him and those who hate him will say it's all lies and continue to hate him.

I agree though, he made choices I didn't agree with but all in all I think he is a good guy.

He made mistakes, like everyone does. The level of "pure hate" spilled his way is ridiculous IMO tho.

He deserves no more hatred than President Obama or any President for that matter.

He served as President, and nothing will ever change that. He was my President, no matter if I agreed or disagreed with his policies.

I agree. You can disagree without the hate.

Wow. The chapter on Sept. 11th literally made me cry.

I'm up to that point and reading it tonight.

Clinton's vibrating chair in the Oval Office was a bit strange though. Not really surprising, just strange.

No mention of a cigar holder, though. Guess it was implied.

Sat this down and started reading it again in the past week.

I really had never realized how much he focused on Africa during his presidency until I read that chapter.

Did more for Africa than any other President before him.

Just started reading it yesterday. Thus far, it has a completely different tone and approach than Rumsfeld's memoir.

I do hope that Bush takes the same shots at Colin Powell and the State Department that Rumsfeld did, though.

Loved the part on Putin.

It's in the Freedom Agenda chapter.

Pretty candid. I can honestly say there is not a whole lot I agree with when it came to W, but I readily admit that I really feel like he had good intentions.

The book certainly gives that impression.
