How in the heck did we ever think this would work in the SEC:

DL coach Palermo - politely asked by MTSU to hit the road after being the DL coach on a historically bad defense.

DB coach Ainsley - was a GA this time last year.

DC Sunseri - LB coach on a defense which is really run by the HC, and had never been a coordinator.

Safety coach Conklin - Never held a job at the FBS level.

I don't know what Palermo did or didn't do at MTSU, but he has a lengthy coaching resume. This includes stints at Minnesota, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Miami, the Washington Redskins.

That said, I don't know much about him, but he has a lot more than one season at MTSU.

You are incorrect in one area!!! Sal was a defensive co ordinator at two different colleges. It was several years ago but he was the defensive coordinator at Alabama A & M and also at Southern Indiana.
wikipedia Sal's name and you will see all of the positions he has held.
Yes, I agree that being the defensive coordinator 15 years ago at Alabama A & M or Southern Indiana does not qualify you to be the coordinator at an S.E.C.
however; the fact remains, he was a coordinator in the past.
