Defense giving up?

One thing that I saw tonight that was maybe the most discouraging was that our defense played very well but seemed to lack some fire. I think that maybe we have finally reached the breaking point that all of us dreaded where our defense just gives up because they know that our offense can't win any games for them. They repeatedly gave our offense amazing field position, (even scoring 2 for them), just to see our offense continue to turn the ball over and ruin a stellar defensive effort. The last play when Parys hit Blake just says it all to me, I really don't see how they will be motivated for the ND game, except that they will play for the Chief.

I thought our d played with a ton of fire and emotion last night. They played their a$$ off. The problem is that the o has got to sustain a drive every once in a while to give them a blow. They can't keep going out there after the o goes three & out without running out of gas.

When the offense gets 4 drives started in SC territory and not score on any of them then there is a problem. Defense can only do so much. They are the only side that plays with heart.

The defense has played with more fire, intensity, and guts than any staff on either side of the ball I have EVER seen on The Hill!

But no matter how well conditioned you are, the human body gets tired. If the offense can stay on the field for even TWO MINUTES (several "drives" were less than 2:00). Then the defensive players cannot recover.

Our offense doen't give our defense any rest. The longer our D is on the field, the greater the chance of the other team to move the ball at some point. They aren't giving up, they're just tired. Tired of having the pressure of winning every game for the team and tired from a physical aspect.

Every team we play the rest of the year has a formula to beat us. Play it close, don't give UT easy defensive points. Late in the game when our defense is tired, they'll be able to move the ball and score enough points to win. I now hav a fear that we may not win another game.

Notre Dame will clean our clock.
Memphis has a great running game. Should be able to move the ball in 4th qtr.
Vandy has a good QB and WR, should be able to score points in the 4th. qtr.
Kentucky has enough good athletes to probably score late in the 4th. qtr.

I've kept waiting for the offense to turn it around. At this point I don't think it's gonna happen. :banghead:

How many 3 and outs before they tire out? They gave our offense the ball the whole 3rd quarter the ball in Cock land and got ZERO. Thanks RS, pack it up and head back to Morristown!
