I'm new to this board, but a TN fan for 40+years. The difference tomorrow will be the TN defense. I'm looking at TN getting 3 fieldgoals and 2 touchdowns. TN 23 FL 17

Welcome to the board! :wavey:

I agree with you. The Meyer offense forces a team to be very disciplined and stay w/ their assignments. If Chief has taken care of this (and I bet he did) it could be a great day for our D.

Your absolutely right.

And i will go so far to say, the key is going to be whoever is playng cornerback and safety for UT opposite Jason Allen.

Urban Meyer is smart enough to know

1) probably cant run or pass on Jason Allen's side of the field
2) Tenn's defense is good enough to shut Florida's running game down

which basically means he is going to be throwing all day to other side of the field against whoever is playing cb and fs for UT

the reality is the way our offense played against UAB, if we get in a scoring contest against Florida were probably going to lose. Our defense has to shut Florida down and hold them probably to less then 20 points.

the whole game hinges on how well the cb and fs on the other side of the field from jason allen plays. I guess that will be jonathon wade or hefney.

You are correct, but I'm thinking the dfront will put so much pressure on Leak that the dbacks will not have as much to worry about. I'm talkin' turnovers, that's why I think field goals will make the difference, not to take anything away the the TN offense, but I'm more confident in the D.

And, I'll say, that "you ain't seen nothing yet." If your only exposure to the UT offense was last game vs. UAB, my guess is that you won't recognize the team in Orange and White tomorrow night.

Welcome slobber, Kiddiedoc, I sure as hell hope I can't recognize our offense. We sure need them to play tomorrow.

I agree %100 slobber. The defense HAS to set the tone in this game. If the D can intimidate and get us the ball, I think the offense will do their job admirably..

I say offense is the key.  If we score 100 points, we will definitely win.

Hundred points sounds good to me...

I think the UAB scare was just what UT needed. They have had 2 weeks to think about how poorly they played at times that first game and the last thing you want going into the swamp is a team that is satisfied with it's previous performance. If we play solid D and capitolize on turnovers/red zone opportunities we will be just fine.

On our side I think the Gators D will be the key for a UF win. I've been their biggest skeptic but they do seem to have improved this season and it's due to having a lil more depth...and rotating more players than past and not wearing down in the 4th.

I heard Corso say that too. My question is, what have you seen against the likes of Wyoming and La Tech that make you feel more confident about the defense?

Yeah its definitely hard to compare them against UT...but besides rotating several players...the young secondary that I thought would be the biggest weakness has made the biggest plays for the D thus far.

Yeah, I'm not trying to belittle your secondary or defense, but teams like Wyoming and La Tech will make them look a lot better. I can't say that for the UT secondary against UAB though.

So like you said, tonight will answer a lot of questions. I just hope that it's a clean and injury free game. It's going to be fun.
