Ok. State shot 56 percent for the game. That's the official state. Absurd. You let any team shoot that high a percentage and you will lose. Pearl said that the main problem today, and that is obvious. If your opponent shoots 45 percent, they've had a pretty good game. 56 percent?

Pearl did make one goofy quote about all of UT's threes: He said, That's what happens when there are five white shirts (meaning ok. state defenders) inside the three point line. It's not too often that five defenders aren't inside the three!! That's where they're supposed to be.

One thing i don't understand about a lot of man defense is why coaches allow their bigs to come out high to defend. If the guy your big is guarding drives by him, or if he gets caught in a pick, your defense is broken...I see it a lot. Bigs should not be pressuring ball 20 feet from the basket. Teams that do that--and yes, our Vols are one of them--usually give up a lot of easy baskets.

He was talking about why they did not have more points in the paint and shot so many 3's. That is how teams have been playing us for a while because they know we dont hit a very good percentage of them and they take their chances and keep us out of the paint.
Chism had 1 2 point basket and Williams had 1 as well. That is pathetic for a team that had a huge height advantage against them.

Like the lay up we let eaton streak from the top of the key uncontested all the way to basket to win the game.

The D has been the cause of our problems consistently all season. The bad shooting calmed down more than the bad D ever did. Pearl's success rest on a team that can run and press on D. This team could run but could not press. Hopefully this team can find a way to learn how before next year.

The defense was terrible! :rock:Too many open shots for the Cowboys. :eek:hmy:Also there were time when the Vols should have taken more time off the clock rather than hurry down the court and shoot a three and get nothing out of it. This game was winnable. The Vols probably had the toughest bracket. The Cowboys will not get past Pitt. What does Bruce have to do to make the Vols better next season? Will the Vols be a top 25 at preseason?:dunno:

Brian williams comes out to defend on the perimeter and teams pick and roll right by him. After i have been burned repeatedly over and over, i think i could figure out that i shouldn't be that far out on the court defending. Too much space for a big man to cover on a guard, bad defense, bad coaching.

Our defense has been that way the entire season. It really doesn't surprise me that it was our ultimate downfall when it mattered.
