Ok. State shot 56 percent for the game. That's the official state. Absurd. You let any team shoot that high a percentage and you will lose. Pearl said that the main problem today, and that is obvious. If your opponent shoots 45 percent, they've had a pretty good game. 56 percent?
Pearl did make one goofy quote about all of UT's threes: He said, That's what happens when there are five white shirts (meaning ok. state defenders) inside the three point line. It's not too often that five defenders aren't inside the three!! That's where they're supposed to be.
One thing i don't understand about a lot of man defense is why coaches allow their bigs to come out high to defend. If the guy your big is guarding drives by him, or if he gets caught in a pick, your defense is broken...I see it a lot. Bigs should not be pressuring ball 20 feet from the basket. Teams that do that--and yes, our Vols are one of them--usually give up a lot of easy baskets.
