Defense & Special Teams - It's About Coaching

Dude you don't think they have been coaching that ?!?!? They talk about it all the time man. At some point man you have to look at you players. Heck they are so slow Auburn players are out running the dang angles. We have had different 3 different DC's and have had the same problems.
One would hope they are. The product and performance on the field should make all of us raise an eyebrow.

Not giving up on the team, but anyone who thinks this team is being prepared and coached up... especially the defense and even special teams today... needs to open their eyes.

They are not learning some of the basic fundamentals of football (e.g. angles, coverage, positioning) and that has nothing to do with talent... it's coaching.

Brent Brewer, Justin Coleman, Jaron Toney.... These guys aren't great SEC defensive players. There is a deficiency of SEC talent and speed. When a quarterback on the opposing team can outrun your safety, you have a problem.

Well he started his college career as a DB at Georgia.

I believe we have good coaches that are very good teachers. I don't agree that everything falls on coaching especially when, as many have said, it's gotten worse the last three weeks. Did the coaches make them unlearn things they were taught that worked previously? Doubt it.

I believe a HUGE factor in this is our depth and the amount of time our defense is on the field because we don't have a high powered or even remotely consistent play on offense.

Our kids are exhausted which would explain the fall off over the last three games.
If I work you out until muscle failure and then bring in the greatest coach on the planet to teach you the proper technique for a push up your body will not be able to perform it regardless of how good you're being taught.

Second half will show if CBJ and staff have what it takes or not. We can play with these guys!

I take that back...I'm sure SOME of you could do a hundred push ups because clearly everything is so simple.

They look worse and worse every week, that's not all talent.

To call it "special" is an insult to the word. I don't know why in the heck we can't kick it in the freaking end zone. We can't tackle. We can't cover. We have no difference-makers of our own to combat our abysmal coverage units. Whoever is coaching these unita needs to update his resume.

90 yd kickoff ret for TD..... question answered. This is about to get biblical. 60 something to whatever we can score... maybe 34 or 37 I would guess.

Just got slow over the last two weeks?

No. Always been. Palardy seemed to be kicking in endzone more also at beginning of season.

I miss a lot lf games being in ca though so could be wrong. Bad angles are something that can be coached but it takes time.

I am more worried about the third year. I don't see is being very good next year either.

I need help understanding. Covering a kickoff is as simple a task in this game as anything right? Stay in your lane? Is there much more than that?
So for those that believe that this staff is the reason for the defensive woes...do you honestly think that wasn't taught? Do you honestly think that they didn't go over that? I'm CERTAIN it's been addressed hundreds and hundreds of times. What isn't in the coaches hands is the execution of the play and that is where we are failing.

Way to copy and paste.

If you put racing stripes on a Ford Escort...it's still an Escort. You can't coach up lack of talent and speed.

Not according to some on here. A good coach could make it faster.
It's interesting someone said earlier about Richt firing two coaches and we have them both...though it was said on here a month ago that butch out coached Georgia as well as the great Spurrier. Apparently the staff forgot how to coach the last three weeks though and it has nothing to do with anything else but their inability to coach...even though they had the ability earlier in the year.
Makes perfect sense.

We have gotten increasingly worse as the year has gone on. We are now playing as bad as last years D. It's alarming that the staff has not improved us at all.
