why is it we only do the prowl sometimes... the only thing i can think is on 3rd down because most people dont run on third down.. but even when you never see us do the prowl unless its a bigggg game! why is this?

Because in most games, we don't need a gimmick defense to get the job done.

Also, the less you use those types of things, the bigger surprise it is.

Don't expcet to see it again anytime soon.

I noticed SC using the same scheme a lil against UGA...I like it every now and then for a lil confusion on the blocking schemes!

The prowl works well against option teams because the qb is reading the defensive end, and depending on what he does he will either run the option or keep it, or will do a quick handoff or pass. The prowl was taking away the QB's read. Thats why it worked so well against Fl. If the team isnt running an option, they are more keying on what the secondary is doing, they run a man in motion to see if the defense is playing man or zone etc, and arent as concerned with which gap the defensive line is hitting except for trying to pickup the blitz. So I dont see any point in using it except against an option team.

a lot of teams could run it on 3rd down or so...Florida wasnt going to....they normally have to be option or throwing the ball....becuz if they run it then they get atleast 3 yards a pop because of the movement....thats y it didnt work for SC against GA
