Defense, your thoughts

They gave up a ton of passing yards, but it's tough to dog them too much for only giving up 10 points.

You had to know that was coming. They couldnt get anything on the ground so they kept passing. That is how it is. And 282 yards isn't that bad when you think of who the qb is. thank god for Dee morley. He gets my game ball for breaking up that pass at the end of the game.

The D-Backs played very well considering the D Line got NO pressure on Hackney, and were out on an island most of the day.

Demetrious looked REAL good back there during the second half.

The short passing game is going to have to be defended better, but no one's head should roll.

No lie. They ate us alive with the crossing routes and skinny posts. Morley had that guy locked down.

We only gave up 10 because UAB couldn't score in the red zone. We give up that many yards to these SEC teams and we are done. Stick a fork in it.

I agree we only gave up 10 points, but man our passing d sucks i knew they would'nt run on us because they don't run the ball much.Every time we play somebody that can pass the ball they eat us up. Man something or someone has to go, do ya'll agree with me.

DMo and Allen were awesome today. That's about it, I thought the rest of the DBacks looked kind of slow.

The line didn't have much success putting pressure on Hackney, but they did do an outstanding job stopping the run. They swarmed UAB's TB whenever he even thought about taking the handoff.

True, Allen and the other guy with a hard name to spell did well. Hey, was Mahelona even in the game?!? I know he was, but what a sorry effort on pressuring the QB. I think I heard his name once.

he was the only one with a sack if that means anything.

Whoa Nellie. Maybe you guys didn't notice. Our game plan was to contain Hackney with the DL. We wanted to force him to stay in the pocket. Believe it or not, Hackney is MUCH better when on the run than he is in the pocket. Unfortunately this puts a ton of pressure on the DBs. Under the circumstances, our DBs did a hell of a job. 282yds total offense and 10 points is more than acceptable. When we get to a QB where the line doesn't maintain and contain our dbs will not have to carry the load as much as they did today.

All in all our defensive gameplan was excellent and it was executed very well.

And that would be the one time I heard his name. Still, not the same. I guess expectations are too high.

Our guys struggle against crossing routes because they hardly ever have to play them in practice. All we do is throw to the sideline and screen passes. I'm sorry but our guys hardly ever break on the ball and yes the coaches have been able to use the inexperience excuse but even in years past, when we have had a wealth of experience in the secondary we have still gotten picked on. Look at Alabama, even with scholarship reductions and arguably less talent. They were the #1 defense in the nation last year. We can stop the run but haven't ever been able to consistently stop the pass under Chavis. I don't know if it's his schemes or Slade coaching the secondary.

This is true. I guess I was more interested in this years D than anything and had such high hopes. Since they didn't WOW me, I guess I am a little hard on them.

Line played very well.

If Hackney had been Leak we'd have had 5 sacks.

They stopped the run really well.

LBs played all the way to the sideline on almost every play. Great pursuit but they missed some coverages.

Secondary was not as bad as it looked. I give them a B- but I think that's more due to Hackney being so darned hard to trap in the pocket.

What with his ability not only to get away from tackles, but break them in the pocket as well, he had a lot of time to look off receivers.

Allen's play was, well Allen's play ... the guy's gonna be a kick butt corner in THE league.

I guess i should be happy with a win and i am, but we're gonna be in trouble when we play teams that can run and pass the ball.

well there running backs are crap. both have -1 yards.

they only had 50 rushing yards. and 80% of the passing was in the second half when hackney was from another planet.

an nfl team couldnt have slowed him down.

but jonathon wade is not a corner. i dont know what position he needs to play but corner is not it.
:bad:
