DEFENSE.......

I don’t honestly believe it is one side of the ball or the other… winning is a whole team effort, an Offense that’s clicking, a Defense that’s tough & a Special Teams that is clean & consistent.
Not disagreeing, but Defense can stop the other team from scoring while scoring themselves. Be sweet if that happened last week.

All the rule changes now demand a focus on offense, but you still have to have a decent d! See TN vs S. Carolina for proof.

I don’t know if you can say one is more important than the other but I will say that the offenses are so much more explosive than 25 years or more ago.

A lot of this has to do with rule changes helping the offense, kids playing organized football at such a young age, in the past just white guys playing QB, high school QBs now go to QB camps, etc..

I was watching a Joe Namath commercial yesterday and I was wondering if he would even be 2nd string in todays game.

Joe Namath had a quick release and a strong arm, a touch , had swag “wore a fur coat”, could run until he hurt his knee tackling ex Vol Mike Lucci , who picked off a pass. Dude would prosper in today’s game. He talked smack and backed it up

If the other team scores 9/10 times when they get the ball, you have to score every time to win. The better you are on one side of the ball, the more margin for error on the other side.

If we had 98 D nobody would have come within 2 TDS of us this year & if 98 team had this years O they would have had no nailbiters with Syracuse Arkansas and a few more. They would had destroyed everyone

You’ll be hard pressed to find team winning the SEC and/or the NC without a good/solid balanced overall team.

Dominant offense still can get it done but you have to have some defense. Georgia has an elite defense.?
Yes

Is Georgia's defense that good?
Georgia ranks in the top five nationally in three other categories: No. 4 in total defense (262.5 yards per game), the No. 4 rush defense (85.4 yards per game) and No. 2 red-zone defense (64.3%).Oct 31, 2022

It isn’t as true now. That said you can’t be dead last in any defensive category and still expect to win. If we have an even mediocre pass defense this is a team that can compete for championships

Actually you can, although not always likely. Look at Southern Cal. 96 maybe in total defense. Near last in red zone, 3rd down defense, and pass d. Southern Cal is 10-1. When coach Grinch (DC) was at Oklahoma last year, they were near last in pass d and 4th down. They were mid range scoring d, red zone and total. They went 11-2 last year.

Coach Grinch has been regarded as one of college footballs best DC's even though he has some statistical categories that have been dead last. His first year at Oklahoma, I believe they were dead last in red zone d, but went 12-2.

I just want our DBs to turn their heads and look for the ball...and play on the line when it's 3and5 or less.
That's Banks fault.

His scheme (our defense) are last in the nation in 3rd down stops.

I've seen over a dozen times this year, where it was 3rd and 6, and BOTH CBs are playing 12 yards off....🙄.

Average talent plus bad coaching equals a disastrous combination.

How about 3rd and 20…the corners 15-20 yards off…and the safeties 25-30?
