We are ranked 3rd in the nation in yards per play (3.0). I've seen a lot of media picking Fla. to score 27 or 28; unless we give them something easy in special teams or a scoop and score, etc. I don't see that happening. UTSA is ranked 21st; I have tix to that game. My first game since the Jennings cleat gate game vs Vandy.

Little is being said about our d back field which is little or no better than it has been in the recent past. If our pass rush runs into trouble - - - well look out!

Those stats are based on us playing two teams who have anemic offenses, so we really do not have a good measure of how good our defense really is. I believe we will show that we have a very good def use and will beat UF by 10-14 points.

I don't know about anyone else but I always get pretty nervous when the opposing QB throws the ball down the sideline. Otherwise the rest of the defense looks pretty good.

If the D can stop the run and give our pass rushers some 3 and long situations, Mertz will be watching at least half the game from his back.

I think that’s the key to beating them. Take the pressure off Joe and the O.
I have another one. Flip the field at times and put Fla deep in their territory. Don’t be afraid to punt and give Dee a short field when our d stops them.

Gotta hope it improves as the season goes along. Hadden has good potential. Lots of talented freshmen that may be able to climb their way up the ladder

The counter argument is that when Florida played a decent defense they looked like utter trash.

It’s the third game. Stats can be skewed a bit. Hell Bama probably appeared to be a defensive juggernaut last year till that night in Neyland happened.

All of that said I think Florida is not a great team. They look sort of one dimensional and that dimension plays into our strength. All of that crap goes out the window though when you line up down there in that hell hole called the swamp. We win by a lot on paper but games aren’t played that way.

Would disagree with that. Hadden is only giving up 1 yard per target. Even if you could PI's as a 15-yard reception he's only giving up 2.9. Burrell hasn't given up a reception/PI in 35 snaps in coverage, McDonald is giving up 5.1 yards per target which is solid. Only real blemishes have been Jeudy-Lally and Slaughter falling down once.

Yeah, in a game like this I think you punt them deep rather than going for it on 4th and 4.......or simply kick a FG.

Absolutely.... Turnovers, crowd, the fact Joe Milton is our QB. Gives some reason for concern.. Tennessee is a better team most will agree but it is football and you just never know..

Numbers, numbers, numbers, %s, %s %s! Mean very little. The ones that really count are the 30+ yarders where he NEVER looks back and the pass is caught or he interferes. Your numbers bring to mind a boxing match where on guy has the most landed blows has won the most rounds and then get his head torn off by one blow.
End of fight..

If we let wide receivers roam wide open it’s going to be a tough day. Pearsall had a good game last year.

But our defense did what it was supposed to do. And they looked better. Florida offense scored 11 versus Utah. Very little last year. It's not like we are facing 1996 florida.

Except that would get factored into the total, and average lol.

Nice try though. 🤦🏼‍♂️
