We currently have 7 defensive linemen in this class. And it does not appear as if we are stopping there. Mahoney visited this weekend, and he isn't the only one we still have our eyes on.

Does anyone else think that maybe we're good on the D-line for this class? I know coach O is a great recruiter. I just hope he isn't getting a little overzealous because it is the position he coaches.

This is just an observation. I am no football mastermind. I just keep hoping that our next recruit is a linemen of the offensive variety. I feel like that is the more pressing issue at this point.

Well there has been talk that Harris and Broussard aren't gonna make it in academically so i think we gotta take another DT or two and maybe one end

Well lets say those two dont make it in then we will have two more spots so that will give us room for four O lineman two D lineman a DB and a running back.

We can sign 30 players in this class. That means we could sign 9 more players if need be. We HAVE to get at least 1 more DT. Broussard isn't going to make it in. Harris is in trouble...

Games are won or lost in the trenches in the SEC. If we add a great offensive line, decent QB, and great dline with some depth with what we already have, this team will be back at the top of the SEC.

True. But it seems like Offensive Linemen are a scarcer resource than Defensive Linemen. Is that a fair statement?

I think also by having some Juco's with college experience will give the true freshman time to develop without having to rush them

Seems I remember Mahoney saying something in his interview that Coach O liked to keep running different D linemen in during the course of the game. That would mean you needed lots of linemen. We do though IMO need more O linemen.

I still don't see how we sign 30...

Hubbs just said we could only sign 27.

can you explain?

I was down on the field pregame and met with David Mahoney. I then sat about 4 sections from him during the game. He was a solid brick s&*thouse on the field even in a large jacket. He was into the game the whole time (which was amazing since even I was starting to get restless). He was shaking his orange and white and even stayed for the halftime show of "how much is that doggy in the window"....(SIDEBAR: Have we spent that much money on Assistant coaches and stadium renovations that this garbage was actually a halftime show?) He was with what looked like his girlfriend or a friend and she seemed aww struck by the stadium. I really like the impression we left with him. I think he will wear the Orange and White.

LV put out a great explanation a week or two ago. You should be able to find it under another thread/forum. Anyways, based on how he had it analyzed, I would say he was on top of it. 30 is the number. LV almost always knows what's up.

+1

I am confused, I thought Hubbs corrected himself and said 27 as well.

I heard from someone that Palardy may be getting an academic scholarship, but I think that is hogwash.

Hubbs said we can sign 30. You misinterpreted...

- New rule limits you to 28 signees per year
- We can back count 2 more
- 28 + 2 = 30

-We can only bring in 27 new players, but we can sign 30. The other 3 will have to be placed in JUCO or Prep, or they can be greyshirted...

OK, but if they JUCO or prep, they don't sign LOIs, do they?

Linemen play both ways in high school, The ones that are quicker and faster are recruited as defense tackles and the others are recruited as offensive tackles and guards. Change these defensive tackles to offense and you have the best of both worlds. Maybe this is what they have in mind. I know Monte likes smaller, faster offensive linemen!
