Defensive Pressure and James Pearce Jr. Appreciation Thread

The Arkansas DE matchup with the Bama OT's provided a peak into the opportunity Tennessee's DE's will have this upcoming weekend.

I'm guessing Bama tries to run more against Tennessee as Milroe will need extra blocking in pass sets.

That boy has the quickest 1st step for an OLB/DL I've ever seen. Just watch him and the snap. Bama should have better longer tackles than ATM, but I still pity the 330# foo that has to get out of a stance and get a paw on him before he's passed em'. 😳

He’s got a beautiful inside move that makes him incredibly tough to stop. He’s fast and can run around the outside, and also strong enough to plow over you or go inside. It’s scary that he’s either a sophomore or redshirt freshman still. I’m not sure if he played in over 4 games last year.

Have a friend who played for the Mocs and started at OT in the opener as a FR v Auburn and the AA Tracy Rocker. Tough story as he tells how quick the guy was. Pierce has the same kind of quickness.

Name me a better pass rusher in the conference right now.

Maybe Dallas turner but with Pearce only being a sophomore, that's scary

I know that when he was a freshman last year, coming in after the game was decided, that he was special. He had several sacks in mop up duty. Sky is the limit for him. Enjoy watching the rest of this season and next, but I expect he will be gone after the 2024 season.

I think we have the right man wearing the #27. I look forward to many more highlights of him the next couple years flying around being a nightmare for opponents. If Milroe and the Crimson Turds don’t know who he is, they will very soon.

I haven't seen a more dominant defensive player since Leonard Little. Barnett was good, but Pearce is just a freak. Can beat you with speed or power. He's so quick, he is halfway to the QB before the tackle can get out of his stance. He knows how to use leverage to toss guys around like ragdolls and make them look stupid. He can even drop into coverage. We are watching something special.

That's what kills me about this guy. One play he's stunted past the OL, the next play he just runs him straight over. It's like a man playing a game with little 300+ pound children.

Right, it's basically watching a grown man get abused and toyed with for a full 60 minutes. It's truly amazing to watch.

Pearce is showing versatility too. I think that’s gonna make him really rich at next level if he can just stay healthy, and work hard.

He occasionally lines up and plays pass coverage as an Outside LB, including on the key (I think 3rd down) tackle of the good Aggie Receiver in space for no gain. And he ran down the Aggie 5-star Freshman RB from the BACKSIDE, again for no gain.

He’s got a lot more game than just a pass rush specialist. But yeah, his pass rush is special.
