Lane Kiffin has informed the entire defensive staff that their presence is no longer needed.

It had to be done.

On one hand, I hate it for Brooks, Caldwell and Chavis, but on the other hand. . . they've enjoyed stability and job security that is seldom seen among college assistant coaches.

I watched Gruden during his post game, and he was asked about the UT situation and he said he was happy for Lane, and that he was a big Tennessee fan. He also said he'd leave those questions for Monte, but he would sure hate to lose him. He had a smile on his face as if he knew something, but didn't want to say anything. I didn't think he'd come before, but after seeing that I'm almost sure he's coming. Time will tell.

So can Slade win a Coaching Award when he is no longer employed?

Who cares, 'preciate it.

That defense made this year a little less ugly. All of those guys will land on their feet somewhere.

I would say after watching Gruden during the TB press confrence. Monte is coming for sure. Gruden had nothing but good things to say about Kiffin & Tennessee. He basically adressed the Monte Kiffin coming to Tennessee as "That is a question for Monte, we will support him no matter what and he has done nothing but great for TB. Lane Kiffin will be a great Coach for Tennessee"

I got the same impression.
