Delay of Game Penalty

Can someone please explain this? arguably it cost us the game! There is no way the play clock ran out so WFT???!!!!???

I think a more appropriate way to phrase it would be... "it cost us another shot at the end zone." We likely still would have lost since our QB can't throw and our receivers can't catch.

Ok, we're sitting there at the line of scrimmage, waiting for the refs to put the ball down, and then a delay of game?


The ref must've meant something else, but said "delay of game."

It doesn't matter, though.

I think 10 yards is a whole lot easier than 15 yards. You cant argue that. So there is a good chance that cost us.

The ball had not been whistled into play when they snapped it. That is what the penalty was for.

It did give us an extra down...I think we blew it on the previous possession when we ran a whole 17 seconds of the clock. Couldn't get a first down to save our bowl hopes...

It ran 9 seconds off of the clock. I thought we had one time out left with 22 seconds left.

We should have never been in that position to begin with. Our POS QB and receivers cost us that game, not to mention the D mailing it in the first half.

Clausen ran with the ball rather than throwing the ball away. The penalty took out the spike play and giving us another down rather than using the spike as a down. That had no bearing on the outcome. Unless we scored on 4th down perhaps vandy fans would have something to argue about.
