Dennis Kucinich | Syria | Video | The Daily Caller

“What I learned from my meeting with President Assad is that he does care about what’s happening, that he wants to respond, that he’s thinking about the different ways that would be the best way to address the needs of the people,” Kucinich said in the interview, video of which was provided to TheDC by The Middle East Media Research Institute. “And that’s what he’s talking about. He’s talking about the people. He’s very engaged in that kind of a discussion. And frankly, that’s a positive development.”

Kucinich does note that there is a democratic movement afoot in Syria, but says that the government is responding appropriately.

So what's the big deal here?

Assad has killed over 1300 of his citizens for protesting and Kucinich says he's thinking of the best ways to address the needs of the people and says the government is responding appropriately to the democracy movement.

K, now I see the article. I didn't click on it because it said "video", so I just went off the quote. Kucinich lying about being "mischaracterized" is where I have issue.

Maybe some changes are afoot, and maybe he just pulled the wool over Kucinich's eyes. Kucinich is bent on bringing the troops home, so maybe this was related to fears that we could someday get involved in Syria. Assad is making some claims about change (which I never believe until I see it myself, see current POTUS), including restoring 10 synagogues. We'll see.
