Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Isn't that the case in every situation, jeezzz man. How about we let them do their job, that is what they appear to be doing, they seem like they want to get things done.

Why is everyone so worried now? We had a Potato in there, and nobody was worried about anything.
Sharp as a tack.

The border was secure.

IMO we don't need Grok perusing our Federal workforce. An unvetted system making decisions on who is "mission critical?" Who's determines what's critical? That's not how government works. This isn't a bare-bones startup. We have MANY programs whose function is not to make or lose money...they simply cost money. IMO Musk decided to do this and Trump refuses to admit there's friction or that he didn't know about it. Well, unless he's trotting out his old "This is the first I'm hearing about it, but word vomit about why it's fine"
did you miss Covid? That is exactly what the government did. it divided society up based on if their job was important or not.

If you hate transgender people, this is quite the bombshell. If you don't, then it's a very unsurprising "government employees waste time in chat room."
Yep. This feels like they’re just trying too hard. You can convince people that government is inefficient without the moral crusade.

Why does anyone have to hate trans people to be a problem? I don't hate them, I think its unfortunate people glorify mental illness and encourage them... .I actually feel bad for them.

There is a problem that government employees are having inappropriate but also personal conversations on the clock. But that is a small problem. I didn't say that it's not a problem. I said it's not a bombshell.

The NSA is using the PATRIOT Act to spy on American citizens....a PATRIOT Act that Kavanaugh wrote, both parties passed, and Trump extended, and I'm supposed to be worried about NSA agents wasting time on the clock? I'd rather them do that than be eavesdropping on my dirty calls with my old lady.

I generally agree, cut them as well... you must have missed my post about cutting the NSA.

The biggest problem with the FDA is that it takes about a decade to approve new life-saving drugs. Beta blockers save something like 40k (going off memory) lives per year, so 10 years waiting on approval is 400k lives lost. FDA requirements don't just go away because they are understaffed. IDK where the staffing cuts are or how impactful they'll be, but hopefully we're not looking at a 12-15 year window now. We'll be stacking bodies.

This is all just theatre until someone passes a balanced budget amendment.

I do like how we keep talking about waste and fraud though.
I guess it’s better than nothing but the reality is nothing is going to change
nope. its just the new political tennis ball. something to knock back and forth.

over promise, under deliver, demonize the opponent, beg for more power to do it right the next time, and nothing will change.

Yup
Can’t argue with any of that.

Time for me to break out the “ nothing is going to happen “ line except maybe it should be “nothing is going to change “

That's my biggest concern, nothing changes and if nothing changes I'm afraid what little will to stand up to the fed the citizenry has left will be crushed.

Not only will nothing change, but my guess is that the Democrats take back all three branches in the near future and come up with their own version of this crazy.

George Soros is going to be looking at Trump admin’s contracts at the ripe age of 99 and suddenly people will start caring about the processes.

Maybe? My (very real) concern is if this push doesn't bring about some kind of tangible win we're almost certainly screwed short of a collapse/rebuild. A lot had to align just to get this kind aggressive attitude and means in place at the top and if the people can't see results I'm not sure they'll believe any of it's real going forward. Even if it's not transformative up front there has to be enough to go "See? This is real and we can do this if we keep working.".

The time it takes for drugs to get approved by the FDA is largely due to the long-term studies required to prove that the drugs aren't going to kill more people than they help. They bypassed those protocols for the Covid vaccines, and we see how well that turned out.

Yep, the covid vaccine shortcuts were awesome.

(The biggest problem with the FDA is the HUGE amount of money Big pHarma and our corporate food supply pumps into .gov.)
