Depending on how it goes, a ready and unified propaganda assault is dished out for further distribution by bots and "the little people. That's not a "reversal" nor is it complicated, they don't have the authority to decide for themselves how Congress-appropriated funds should be spent nor are they making any meaningful progress on lowering the deficit. It's why many on both sides of the aisle are turning on them

You never explained when I asked. How is this a Freedom of Speech/Press issue? Specifically?

Trump told them they can't write articles anymore? Or he refused to invite them to his office?

He effectively punished/canceled them for not using the very specific words he wants them to use. It's even dumber than that. They used too many words. Do you not know what happened, or do you really not understand how this was an attack on our American ideal of a free press?

I know exactly what happened.

They are free to use any words they want. They are not free to come to his office when not invited.

To claim this as a "freedom of speech/press" issue, you'll need to show that he's taken a right away. He has not taken away their ability to use words. He HAS taken away their ability to participate in the WH press corps. The problem with your logic is that that is not a right. It is a privilege.

So, please explain again how this is a freedom of press/speech issue.

He rescinded their invitation in order to punish their speech. IDK how this is so confusing to you. It doesn't matter if it's a right or a privilege, or however you want to argue this semantically, it still goes against the ideal of a free press. He punished the press for their speech by taking away a privilege.

Or... He made room for someone he felt more deserving.

"Freedom of the Press" carries the "ideal" of rights.

You said yourself. He removed a privilege. I understand that you are offended, but it's a huge stretch to make this a Freedom of The Press issue. We are given rights, but not protection from the effects of acting on them.

This isn't a freedom of the press issue. The AP is free to continue to publish any articles they want. Freedom of the press doesn't mean you have a guaranteed White House press pass.

Just a heads up- the VA IT systems contracts were part of the "note taking" and "powerpoint" contracts that got cut. They also shut down the suicide support contract today, so that line is not available.

It appears that the new head of the VA is a moron.

What you mean is that he didn't violate the first amendment. It is still a freedom of the press issue.

Just like on Twitter when people complain about freedom of speech, 1A is not actually getting violated but it's still a speech issue.

I keep saying cuts are fine. The problem is they're taking the axe to an agency that is one of the few that owes services to actual Americans and they're not paying attention to what they're doing.

They're also putting the prime vendor contracts on the chopping block. If the facilities can't use purchase cards, and don't have access to equipment, pharmacy, and med/surg contracts, where do they go? If the goal is to push Vets to other types of hospitals and eliminate the VHA, fine, but have the damn process in place first.

And again... They are still free to write/print/publish anything they choose within the law. All he did was stop inviting them to his office.

If you tell me that you won't invite me to dinner if I call you an ***hole (you're not), you have in no way impeded by freedom of speech. Period.

You'll do better by just being honest and saying "I think it's a bad look" than trying to make it a FotP issue.
