The game will be televised although if someone can post the information below it will be great.

It tips at 6 PM.

Depaul just surprised almost all of the pundits by going on a 20-6 run to end the game and beating a talented Northern Iowa squad 60-52.

DePaul Blue Demons vs. Northern Iowa Panthers - Recap - November 20, 2009 - ESPN

Depaul is 2 games into a young season, and they have only also beaten Columbia so it is hard to say much about them. They seem to be a pretty good defensive team in that they have given up in two games 105 points.

DePaul is hoping to avoid a repeat of last year when they started well 4-0 and then 8-5 OOC before collapsing completely in the Big East. They went 0-18 and they lost by a ton. They ended their year on a high note in that they beat Cincy in the conference tournament, but 9-24 is a yuck year.

The Big East looks like it may be the best conference in America again, but Depaul is a bit older and maybe better.

Senior guard Will Walker has started the season well, we will see if he can keep from turning the ball over in the press.

Mac Koshwol who is a junior is 6-10 and will be a good test inside for the big men as he has some good offensive skills.

Jeremiah Kelly is another guard playing well for Depaul.
Mike Stovall is undersized but capable of scoring.

I am glad TN gets to play against some good Illinois ball players who can handle the ball pretty well. If we can turn them over a great deal it will give us a good gauge of what we will be able to do this season in the press against capable but not elite PGs.

No matter what happens in this game, the answer to the question of whether we can press a team with competent guards is no at this point.

I hope it gets better, but we could not press Depaul at all. It has been an embarassment to watch.

If we play that way against the winner of the St. Josephs v. Purdue game we will lose by 15.

I seriously now am looking for Hatvol to come talk about this, I am in agreement with him completely now about our press at least where it is now. We cannot press decent guards. Embarassing...

Not all the way true. Depaul played us tonight like the UK teams have played us since Bruce arrived. They completely controlled the clock. I wouldn't bash our defense as much as the way the offense played. When you factor in foul trouble, an off night in offense, and having the tempo dictated against you, the outcome will be about the same for any team. Purdue does not play this style of basketball but any team, other than Kentucky, Memphis, and possible Kansas, is going to try and control the clock against our up tempo offense the same Depaul did tonight. Plus, your talking about a Big East team that has faced a lot of tough competition in a lot of tough environments. Any Big East team is tough IMO.

Well, a W is a W....but definitely an off-night for the Vols. We were lucky to escape.

There was really nothing you couldn't complain about: the shooting was bad, the passing was bad, the press was ineffective, we missed some key rebounds (although we won the margin handily), the officiating was suspect (both ways)...crap, even the rims were bad!

In the end, maybe this will serve as a nice "reality-check" for a squad that has dominated some terrible opponents. The sledding gets much tougher in a month or so.

All in all, I had flashbacks of our lackluster performances in the AA's.

Reality checks, for the most part, are never a bad thing. Gives the staff something to work with, and build on.

Captain obvious, signing off. :)

Well, what Hat has been saying proved true tonight. We had no half-court offense and Hopson had a horrible game. No one shot the ball well. Our defense in the first half was very adequate, but it fell off in the second half. We will have to play much better to have a chance against Purdue.

We definitely got sloppy on D in the second half. The press really didn't do much for us tonight, caused maybe 1 turnover. We missed so many shots right under the basket it was ridiculous. On a lighter note, McBee showed that he can contribute and he played ALOT of minutes at the end of the game. Looked like Bruce wasn't too happy with Scotty's performance tonight.

I didn't get to watch the game but did McBee kind of just "hang out" around the perimeter or did he actually move around a bit?

HE looked better than in the last few games. Still needs to work on his all around game. Definitely popped some threes though.

Our halfcourt offense and defense is average at best. That has been the achilles heel for Bruce Pearl's teams.

Anyone think this game will hurt our national ranking?

National ranking is the least of our concern at this time. We need to see if we can play well against quality competition. Tonight will tell us alot about this team.
