If we end up not adding another PG, does Thompson or Hubbs start? I would think Thompson would get the nod if his passing and ball handling abilities are better than Hubbs's. However, I would be surprised if Martin doesn't try out a few different rotations early on.

I would be very suprised if Hubbs had any reps at pg. Would think our best option would be a pg by committee with;
1.Thompson
2.Richardson
3.Lopez
4.Moore(neither 3 or 4 are gonna be a good option IMO)

My guess:

Richardson 20/ Thompson 20
Hubbs 30/ Richardson 10
McRae 30/ Moore 10
Maymon 15/ Davis 15/ Moore 10
Stokes 30/ Maymon 10

If we recall Richardson guarded opposing PGs multiple times last year, so I could definitely see that. I think Richardson and Thompson will really split the minutes at point, unless Thompson just comes in and beasts. One thing I will say, they need to adapt a zone, and/or zone press. You're talking about 5 guys on the floor all 6'6" or bigger most of the time, and even Thompson is about 6'4"

Would be a good idea. But will CCM swallow a little pride, and go away from man?

The only think about it is, we will be decent in the regular season, but when it counts in March you know we wont be worth a damn, got to go and at least try to pull something out of the water you might not hang it on your wall, maybe good enough to at least talk about.

here is what i think mcrae 15 ppg stokes 15 ppg hubbs 10 ppg and we win east

Love that. Now if we can get the ball up the court in crunch time, when we are up 5 with a minute left.

Scares the crap outta me right now. But the sky aint fallin just yet.

i am glad the golden thing came out now. gives coach time and he knows what he needs. golden was hot and cold last year and wasnt that great of ball handler. bet somewhere someone is practiceing

I think we'll see Maymon help bring it up some when there is pressure, so that shoud help a little. Don't forget he has some good handles for a big.

I just hope between Richardson, Hubbs, Thompson, Moore, and Hubbs someone can dish it down low to the best front court in the SEC.

He does have pretty good handles for a big. But he wouldnt be effective against a zone press. Or a trap the ball man. IMO

I'm not saying he will be the main ball handler. But he could help bring the ball up if Thompson or whoever is getting pressured.

Was not implying Hubbs at PG.

With Golden gone, you know you'll have
McRae
Richardson
Stokes
Maymon
So that leaves one spot open. Do we let Thompson start at PG or start Hubbs and let whoever else run point?

I am implying that I don't think Thompson and Hubbs will both be starters.

I got what you meant, that's why I replied that I think Hubbs starts, and Richardson will play point.

I misunderstood, my apology. Looking at it that way, I could see Hubbs starting with J Rich running point. That way when Thompson comes in Rich could slide to Hubbs spot and spell him.

Yeah, that's what I would guess too if Thompson doesn't start.

I'd be highly surprised, (and disappointed), if Hubbs was even looked at to try and play some point. I'm hoping that Thompson is more ready than most seem to think. I also don't think that Hubbs will be starting initially.

I'm not sure. When I first heard talks of Richardson being the starting PG, I had my doubts. But it looks like he is the best option as of right now. Things could change and hubbs or thompson might step into that role this season, but I just can't imagine how either of the two (i'll add lopez here as well) would be ready for starting PG minutes on either side of the ball come game one.

Lopez made some nice passes in his minutes...but he can't play that great of defense and if we expect to make a run into the tourny at all then we need a good enough pg. You don't make it far in post-season play with a serviceable pg hardly ever.
