I have seen lots of people hoping we have zero controlled chaos no matter the situation, but also talking about Pearl's deepest team. What does that mean?

I honestly believe that although Harris and Hopson will be our offensive stars this year, and Brian Williams will be fierce inside, that TN could beat lots of NCAA teams playing our backups.

PG: Trae Golden
SG: Skylar Mcbee
SF: Jordan McRae
PF: Jeronne Maymon
C: John fields

This has never been close to being the case before. What it means for defense is that "foul trouble" is really something only Hopson (SG) needs to be hugely concerned with by the time we get to NCAAs.

It also means that we should never have a player out there who is too tired to give maximum effort. Pearl was not about to pull Chism because he was dogging it and put in his son.

When you are playing and you have a very strong player backing you up, you do not mind going out and resting. The other guy tires that defense and extends your lead and then you can get back in there and do work.

I think the starters will benefit from very solid depth. Goins and Williams and Harris should all be excited about how deep they should be able to go in the tournament without hitting the wall physically.

I am concerned about the Danger from Grainger. I like him a good bit, but there is a huge drop off when Hopson sits. I am concerned about his ability to stay in front of talented SGs.

Looking at how deep this team is, I think we should expect great things from the season. Thank you Bruce Pearl, thank you two important big men for transferring, and Go Vols!

I would think that Bone would be in front of McBee on the depth chart.

Pearl said in govolsxtra that he had a set rotation for his press. My guess would be:

PG Goins
SG Bone
SF McRae
PF Harris
C Hall

Apparently Skyler is having a very very good pre season. Looks like the player we wanted him to be last year from what is circulating.

No doubt. I can tell he's gotten better this off season, but I'd be pretty surprised if he gets more minutes than Bone at the 2. I really like how Skylar is a decent ball-handler; to me, it seems like he shoots better off the dribble. He should get more minutes if he can hustle and play some defense....I've never understood why he's so slow in transition or why his defense is often spotty.

Could be because he is slow and not athletic enough to guard most players he faces at the 2 position.

Loften wasn't any quicker, but had some of the best ability to read a defense and anticipate passes and get in those passing lanes. As long as he plays good containment defense and learns to get in the passing lanes, Skylar can be a very capable defender. He has some girth to him as well. It looks like he hit the weights pretty hard during the offseason and shouldn't be a pushover physically this year.

I would like to apologize before the grammar police dig into that last post. It was made in-between phone calls, and did not come out with the clearest of MO's. lol
