Not a huge surprise.

Time to move on.

Sorry. Wrong team. I would like to sincerely apologize to all LA Lafayette fans by associating you with Derek Dooley

It doesn't really have anything to do with hiring a mid major coach. There are loads of mid major coaches who become great high level coaches. Saban started at Toledo.

The problem is, only an absolute idiot would hire a mid major coach with a losing record. Mike Hamilton is that kind of idiot.

So many on here do not even possess rudimentary knowledge of CFB. Go ahead, answer the phone - it is not Mensa calling.

Epic fail. Dooley coached at LA Tech. Stay in Moms basement. Its safer.

Can you really blame me? :lolabove:

I tend not to remember teams where Derek Dooley went 4-8 on (and then somehow got hired as a Tenn coach the very next year).

Come on guys, Coach Dooley has proven who he is.

A good program manager - he has done everything well off the field. Even recruiting in my opinion since he has posted top 15 classes with absolutely no results to pull them in.

Poor field general - he does not coach up the players and gets out coached each week. Did you see that different Mizzou team in the 2nd half?

Let's stop bashing him. We know what he is and so does the admin. If he stays we will see more of the same so it's up to the admin to make the changes. I just hope the next guy can do well where Dooley has and improve on the field.

The whole "I dunt wunt anuther mid major coach" argument is so silly. It's like an NFL team saying "Well, Greg Schiano is doing pretty well at Tampa, we should hire our next HC from the college ranks too." "Cool. Let's hire Joker Phillips."

It has nothing to do with Dooley coming from a mid major. It has everything to do with his 16-20 record at the mid major.

There are several mid major coaches out there who have stellar records. Butch Jones, Sonny Dykes, Mark Hudspeth (who nearly beat Florida today), etc. We'd be doing much better with any of them. Heck, Kevin Sumlin was a mid major coach we could have easily hired when we hired Dooley instead. And right now, he's got his team going toe to toe with the evil empire.
