Would be a great move by Dooley. At FAU, they really have nothing to lose, I guess. If you think about it from Dooley's perspective, it would be a real second chance and if he could make them mediocre, he looks good. If he doesn't, then it'll always be because it was FAU.

From their perspective, they've probably had worse than a guy whose ceiling in the SEC was 6-6. Not saying that he's a good hire anywhere necessarily but I could see it being mutually beneficial if all you wanted was to win half your games and weren't expecting to be like Boise State. Also, the realistic candidates for this job aren't exactly world beaters.

My top preferences of places for Derek Dooley to end up coaching, in whatever capacity:

-- Bama
-- Florida
-- Georgia
-- USCe
-- Vandy
-- Mizzou

I didn't include Kentucky, because I kinda like the little fellas, and so wouldn't wish this upon them.

Go Dooley! Find your way back to the SEC!

Beware. Nicky will hire him as OC and he'll run up 70 on us:banghead2: (please note the brick wall).

In a perfect world he'd end up at Bama.

FAU's former coach made about 600k a year. Dooley could go there. But no way Kiffin takes that big of a pay cut.

I think we just made our last payment towards Dooley's buyout so it would make perfect sense that now is the time he decides to get back into the college game. He was put in a no win situation here but he could've recruited better without too much more effort expended.

There is no way that Kiffin is taking the Florida Atlantic job. That's not happening.

Dooley will start looking into being a position coach in college, now that he's been paid in full by UT.

Sounds like the only reason it didn't happen is that he wanted a buyout that would allow him to leave the program with little consequences to him.

Kiffin is a lot of things, dumb isn't one of them. He's a genius for taking this job. No pressure whatsoever and if he's even mildly successful he will end up with a decent job in the next 3 years. That being said, I hope he falls flat on his face.
