I am planning on traveling to the States in the near future, and I am hoping to pick up a new desktop for my home. I have lived out of the states for 8 years now, and I really don't have much of a clue about the new PC's. Any recommendations on a reliable brand name & model would be appreciated. I want to use it to pick up the TN games. All they care about here is Soccer

Thanks,

For my money, best pre-built desktop pc's on the market are Dells. Just go hit up the website, look for one in your price range and go to it.

I agree . . . I'm sure there might be better brands, but it sure is easy to go to Dell's website and just pick out what you want and then have it shipped to you.

Would agree with Milo. Just check out Dell.com. Laptops are also priced decent these days. You could even carry it back with you.

When you're ready to order let me know and I'll see if I can dig up some Dell coupons for a discount.

I have had good sucess with Dell like Milo says but if you really want to save $ can watch the Best Buy Ads in the Sunday paper and get a very decent e-machine for about half the price of a Dell. I am told they are pretty good computors.

I'm going to defer to my brother's expertise, who swears that Dell uses sub-par components for too much money. He suggests having someone who knows what they're doing build you a custom machine.

On a side-note: my dad uses Dells for his business and has nothing but good things to say. I guess it depends what you're goal is. If you want top-notched media capabilities, you need to be picky with your parts.

He's right, but we're talking pre-built computers though. If your need is a functional computer you can get right away for cheap, Dell is your best bet. If you're actually looking for a good machine, yeah, always go custom.

Thanks Vol Fans! That helped alot. I am leaning toward Dell, but I have heard bad things about their service departments. Anyway, I appreciate your advice, and I am counting the days till Kick-Off. Geez does soccer season ever end.... :birgits_giggle:

Get ready to talk to someone in India if you need help.

Sadly this is now true... :( Dell got where they are today by having the best customer service out there, and now they've gotten away from that.
