Desmond Oliver Post-Game Interview

Just thought this interview was worth posting, but Coach Oliver had some great things to say about our team and being back in TBA.



He said he thinks Chandler is the best point guard he's seen, in his time around this program, come through here. He said he asked his staff who they think is better than Chandler and none of them could think of anyone. That if you can't think of someone quickly, then there is nobody. That he reminded him of a young Kyrie Irving. He seems proud of the development of Olivier, saying he thinks Barnes is at his best with guys like him who are veterans...those players who stick around until their Junior or Senior year. Says he thinks this team could go to the final four or otherwise deep in the tournament.

Anyway, I think ETSU got themselves a great coach in Oliver. Outside of playing us, I hope they have a good season.

I watched him go through the post game hand shake line. JJJ and Chandler both seemed to be especially fond of CDO.

I’m proud of these coaches who started under CRB and move on their own programs. Reminds me of Pat and Coach K. Shows the knowledge and completeness of our coaching staff and program.

I hope Chandler is all that and more. Good guard play is what takes a school to a championship level and deep into the tournament. I know it is premature (as we have not seen much b-ball yet) but I would like to see this team make the final 4.

Love Oliver and hope he succeeds at ETSU and can climb the coaching ranks. We all know he can recruit the east coast well. Good luck to him.
