U.S. Rep Tim Walberg faces increasing pressure for his comments that:

returning troops "indicate to me that 80 to 85 percent, in a conservative fashion, of (Iraq) is reasonably under control, at least as well as Detroit or Chicago or any of our other big cities. That's an encouraging sign."

Harvey, IL was another town mentioned where this recently happened:

Terrence Green, 31, is familiar enough with Harvey's problems -- he works at City Sports on 154th Street, yards from where a bound and gagged man was thrown to his death from a third-floor window less than two months ago.

However, Terrence sees a clear difference between Harvey and Iraq:

But there's at least one major difference between Baghdad and Harvey, he pointed out.

"People here don't blow themselves up!" he said.

Predictably, the Mayor of Harvey has accused Walberg of being racist:

Kellogg, who described parts of Harvey as looking "like a Third World country" in 2005, issued a statement Thursday accusing Walberg of "racial profiling and stereotyping" and "the highest levels of ignorance and stupidity," and urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to condemn the congressman.

In recent weeks, the murder rate in Harvey has slowed, taking it below the 171 deaths per 100,000 residents recorded in Iraq last year.

Though Bobby Davis' murder added to the death tally last Wednesday -- and four non-fatal shootings have been reported since -- Rolando Becerra's Feb. 4 slaying, which was initially ruled a murder, was later reclassified as an accidental manslaughter after a friend gave a statement admitting he had shot him in a "Pulp Fiction"-style gun accident.
